Entertainment.com is offering a flash sale that looks pretty good: 2018 Entertainment Books for $10. You can get 40% cash back through a shopping portal, bringing your net cost down to just $6 per book with free shipping. In addition to coupons for local restaurants and things to do, these guides have discounts with hotel chains, rental cars, and cruises – which could definitely mitigate the $6 cost of the book.

The Deal

  • 2018 Entertainment Books for $10 with free shipping
  • Stack with portal rewards for more savings – one portal is offering 40% back at the time of writing
  • Includes instant online access via website or mobile app
  • Direct link to this flash sale (though note that you should go through a portal for cash back)

Quick Thoughts

While I’ve often bought and misplaced books like this or just forgotten to use the coupons in the past, I still bought one for my area this time around. There were a couple of reasons: first, I saw a few restaurants we go to now and then and I figured I could take those specific coupons and put them in my wallet for the next time I’m there and save more than $6. As noted, portals are offering 20-40% cash back, with the top offer currently from Giving Assistant according to Cashback Monitor.com.

But there were also some other useful discounts in the mix. For example, we posted a Quick Deal yesterday about the new Wyndham Rewards promotion (See: Stay twice (cheaply), get a free night anywhere with Wyndham Rewards) I said I would likely mattress run that promo since it’s a cheap way to get a more expensive night somewhere valuable. The Entertainment book (and therefore the desktop and mobile app versions, which are also included with a book purchase) feature a 20% off coupon good for Wyndham Hotels. I’m not positive that using this coupon will constitute a qualifying stay, but as you’re still booking through Wyndham, I imagine it should stack.

This says Knights Inn, but the coupon is good for all Wyndham Hotels.

You must book through the Entertainment.com or Entertainment.com app links in order to get that discount. Note that I did see differences in availability between the mobile and desktop versions (with greater availability through the mobile link). There were also coupon codes good for a number of other chains as well as independent hotel offers.

These coupons may not be the best possible, but they appeal to me from the perspective of having easy access to a discount without much trial and error.

Additionally, there is a partnership to save 5% on certain gift cards through GiftCardMall.com.

It looks like you first buy a “voucher” from GiftCardMall (for 5% off) and then redeem that “voucher” for gift cards. For example, you can buy a $100 voucher for $95 and then trade your $100 voucher for select gift cards. I haven’t yet tried the process, so I’m not positive whether or not you actually need an Entertainment book membership to do this. Here’s the link to the landing page.

There were also some car rental coupons and a ton of cruise deals. I have no idea if any of these cruise coupons are actually a good value, but we’ve seen some Amex Offers on cruises over the past couple of years. If you’re able to stack an Amex Offer with one of these, maybe it would come in handy (though I don’t think there are any cruise offers in our database of Current Amex Offers, which we constantly keep up-to-date with the latest offers we find)..

Bottom line

For six bucks, I was in for one for me and one for a gift. At the very least, there were Subway subs coupons valid all over the place, and I know we’ll grab Subway enough times in 2018 to save more than six bucks. If I can take advantage of another couple of discounts over the course of the year, I’ll be well ahead. If you have experience with other good Entertainment book discounts, let us know what deals you’ve scored in the comments.

I like reading books very much. From a few days earlier I started searching for a book from many websites with coupons and deals. Finally, I purchased a book making use of a coupon from Saveplus with an affordable price.

[…] As it turns out, the discount did yield the best price and it was cancellable. The best flexible rate I saw through Wyndham Rewards was $67.50 per night. However, through UPS My Choice Deals, the rate was $63.75 and still cancellable. While $3.75 savings isn’t anything exciting, the fact remains that there might be opportunities for more significant savings if you get lucky with some of the other partners….though you’ll have to search for it. For the record, the coupons shown in this section seemed to closely mirror those shown in the online version of the Entertainment book that was on sale for $6 a couple of months ago (See: (EXPIRED) Cheap travel & dining coupons: $6 for 2018 Entertainment book). […]

Thanks, Nick! They don’t have the best selection in Philadelphia, but I have no doubt we’ll still come out ahead for some museum admission and retail purchases.

Do the hotels qualify to earn points, etc? When I click travel it takes me to a page that looks much like an OTA, and of course OTA rates aren’t eligible to earn points.

Even at $8 net, the book is a steal. You’ll easily exceed the cost by using one coupon. They’re normally $30.

I checked out the gift card possibility, and from what I can see it’s no deal. It’s 5% off, and there are a limited amount of cards available. Many of the cards I saw can be purchased on other gift card sites at a discount significantly higher than 5%.

Deal has gotten worse. Giving Assistant now at 20%, so $8 total price.

As always Nick, very useful & a huge value. I haven’t had one of these books in a very long time, but I went ahead for http://www.autoslash.com if nothing else. Entertainment (book) is one of the items they ask if you own to get car discounts & since you may have to produce membership for a discount if asked at the counter, I figure this is a cheap way to tick off that box when renting cars.

You are the best for these practical and economical ideas…your creativity & deep digging are very much appreciated by many.

Alli

What portal? Cashback Monitor only shows 20%.

Taryn

I’ll save lots on BOGO admission fees to museums and gardens on my upcoming trip to Scottdale. Thanks for the heads up!

Not qualifying stay for IHG

bc

But would it count as a corporate rate for the IHG Accelerate promotion?

I’ve saved some decent money on multiple occasions on car rentals, although the coupons have gotten weaker over the years. But they have a free weekend day offer on certain rentals that has saved me a bundle. There used to be a code for $10 off any flight from AA in the book, but no more. Still pays for itself, even at the full price.
