Choice Privileges has launched its latest points sale. This latest deal gives a discount of up to 40% which means you can buy points for as low as 0.62 cents per point. That’s slightly more expensive than the 45% discount sale that ended a couple of days ago, but it’s still one of the lowest priced opportunities to buy Choice points and can be a good deal.

If you’re interested in buying Choice points with this latest sale, it’s worth checking the pricing available on your account as there are sometimes targeted discounts that are higher or lower than other people see on their accounts. Choice cardholders in particular often benefit from lower pricing due to a larger discount or bonus.
We peg the Reasonable Redemption Value of Choice Privileges points at 0.75 cents per point (recently raised from 0.67 cents per point). That’s a higher value than the price available with this latest sale, plus there are opportunities to get outsized value with Choice points, so it shouldn’t take much effort at all to come out ahead when buying points with this latest sale.

No post about the massive devaluations Choice hit across its Japan properties?
I received an email about another sale running from July 21 until August 28. The email said points are 45% off (same as the sale that just ended), but when I checked the site, the discount is only 35% off. Oopsy.
I had actually passed on the previous sale because I don’t have any upcoming plans to stay at a Choice hotel. But the more I thought about it, the more I regretted my decision because 0.57 cpp was such a tremendous deal. I was elated to see the sale come back and was going to make a purchase, only to be completely let down by the false advertising in the email. 35% off is not good enough.
I hope Choice noticed the mistake and will adjust the sale to make good on the terms stated in the email.
Yeah, I got a similar email suggesting that it would be a 45% discount before clicking through and seeing that that’s not the case. I think they must’ve recycled the last email by accident.
Choice had marketed the 45% discount last week as an “early-bird” sale which is why it was weird that they’d launch exactly the same discount again immediately after.

Worth stocking up even with no immediate plans? This seems like the lowest price ever and not far from 0.52cpp on Daily Gateways (that is now discontinued).
Also on the fence. Currently holding a number of bookings in Scandinavia / Japan for this year, getting at least 1cpp on each, some are closer to 1.75. I know that those areas are outliers in terms of great value for Choice points, but I think that getting 0.75-8 is fairly easy at a wide range of properties.
Scandinavia is so awesome for these. Preferred hotels can also be really great and are all over the world but not that numerous. Ascend collection can be great in the States.
I ended up picking up 100k pts on this sale.
The discount is actually 50% rather than 45%.

Wait a second, how is 45% 0.57 cpp while 50% shows 0.69cpp in recent/past sales at bottom of the post ??
The 50% offer was for 50% bonus points, whereas this offer is for a 45% discount. Although the percentage of this new offer is lower, the fact that it’s a discount rather than a bonus is what makes the pricing cheaper.

“I see, said the blind man”. Seriously didn’t see or understand the diff between bonus and discount before, now this looks even more tempting.
0.57cpp can come so handy specially in Japan/Nordic countries, might just hoard 100k points.
As has been the case with recent promotions, I am seeing a slightly better bonus if you buy points using the branded Wells Fargo cards. This time around it is 40%. Earlier this year it was 50% (using the credit card). Just a data point for consideration.
Similarly, today’s new promo gives 50% off if you have the Wells Fargo Choice Privileges MC. As best I can tell, this is the only real benefit of holding on to that card, because you can earn more Choice hotel points spending on Wells Fargo’s basic Autograph card.
The Choice card has another benefit. Your points purchase counts as a hotel purchase, so it earns you even more points. I think it’s the only hotel card where this is true.
I did a google AI search on this and it said I would only receive 1x points. AI can, of course, be wrong.
Google AI is, sadly, very frequently wrong. We’ve had a few readers confirm that Choice points purchases with a Choice credit card get bonused as though it’s a Choice Hotels stay, so that definitely seems correct.
I plan to make a small points purchase with my Choice CC this week. I’ll report what I earn.
