Kathy at Will Run for Miles reports receiving a targeted spending offer on her Citi Prestige card via email that’s good for 5x in select categories on up to $500 in purchases through 3/31. Keep an eye out for an email and be sure to activate the offer if targeted.

The Deal

  • Citi is sending out targeted spending offers via email good for 5x in select categories for up to 2,500 bonus points, The screen shot above is an example offer on a Citi Prestige card good for 5x in the following categories through 3/31/20:
    • Grocery stores
    • Gas stations
    • Drugstores
    • Mass transit & commuter transportation vendors
  • No link, check your email for an offer and unique activation link

Key Detials

  • Must activate by 2/15/20
  • Valid through 3/31/20 up to 2500 points

Quick Thoughts

While the low cap here makes the offer feel lukewarm (you’ll max it out after just $500 in purchases), the offer above is essentially a gift given categories in which it is easy to meet the spending requirement. The points earned here would easily mitigate costs if you’re buying a gift card and/or it would be easy to use this for organic spend and max it out.

I would expect to see similar spending offers out for other cards. Let us know in the comments if you’ve received a new Citi spending offer on another card or with different categories.

Similar offer on my Citi Exec AA

DSK

I’m in the middle of one (November 1 – January 30) under the same terms as commenter ABC. Agree that the categories I received aren’t all that great for my purposes.

Ben

Similar offer on the Citi AAdvantage Gold for 5x on any online purchases. Would be an easy category if I hadn’t closed the account last month…

CaveDweller

lauraPDX

got the same offer this AM on my citi thank you preferred card.

ABC

Received similar offer (spend $500, get 2500 TY points) but the categories are not so great: clothing stores, computer & electronic stores, department stores and toy stores. Any good ideas for maxing out? Any of these stores sell VGCs or MCGCs?

Simon

I got the same offer…

Doug

Same offer here as well. Think gift cards would work?

J P

I always love the “Key Detials” haha

In all seriousness, thanks as always Nick and Happy New Year’s!
