Go for Hyatt if your goal is to stay at luxurious aspirational properties. Club Carlson is good for quantity of free stays at good but not exceptional properties. Why not get both cards?

Depends where you want to stay. Top tier Hyatt hotels are easier to attain than top tier CC hotels.

If you have the Club Carlson card which earns 5 points per dollar, you can use it to buy Vanilla reload cards. The cost per point is extremely low.
Why would anyone want to buy for 0.4 cents when you can manufacture all you want at 1/3rd the cost?
Not everyone knows how to do so.
