Delta is running a series of deals this week for their ‘Dream It, Live It’ event. Yesterday’s deal (which is still bookable) offered the opportunity to get 2cpp of value from your SkyMiles when booking vacation packages.
Today’s deal is an award sale on numerous routes that Delta lists as costing as low as 10,000 SkyMiles round trip. In reality though, prices are even lower than that on several dates, going as low as 9,000 miles round trip.
The Deal
- Book round trip award flights on Delta starting from 10,000 miles.
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- Tickets must be purchased by August 30, 2019.
- Valid for travel from January 15-March 7, 2020.
Quick Thoughts
As always with these Delta award sales, the round trip prices can actually be lower than those advertised. For example, they state trips between Boston and Austin start at 10,000 SkyMiles round trip, but in reality they can be booked for as low as 9,000 miles.
In addition to this award sale, Delta is advertising low cash prices on these same routes. The cheapest route listed on the landing page in terms of cash prices is for travel between San Jose and Seattle. That’s listed as $118 round trip, although some dates in January are pricing out marginally lower than that.
Even if your travel dates fall outside of January 15-March 7, it’s worth checking to see how much it will cost. For example, the same Boston to Austin route listed earlier can also cost as low 9,000 SkyMiles round trip in October, although the price fluctuates greatly depending on the dates.
It looks like Delta will be offering award sales on international travel later this week, along with opportunities to use SkyMiles for live events, so we’ll be sure to cover any of those offers if they represent a good deal.

So Skymiles are worth just over 1 cent each? Might as well just use a cash back card
In the case of the SJC-SEA route priced at ~$118, that’d be the case. With the BOS-AUS route, it’s possible to get ~2cpp of value or more depending on the date. A 2% card might still be better in that situation seeing as you’d also earn miles from the paid flight, but for people sitting on a stack of SkyMiles already, this is an opportunity to get good value from them.
P2 app’d the Delta Plt Biz earlier this month 50K/$3K MSR but also $500 statement credit on $1000 of Delta flights or other purchases and Platinum 2nd year has a CP.
We are spending 10 days in Orlando this coming spring. Found RT PDX-MCO for $264/pp after promo statement credit $139/pp (or $188 if you inc AF) or 19K miles RT/pp but the statement credit was a far better deal would and I would rather use 76K miles on a Delta One award sale to Europe/AMS or on for a similar flight.
And remember, many of us fly Delta regularly and get rewarded these crappy skypesos…..I do very much value their status, so I keep getting this crappy things….
