Update 1 pm EST: Bilt sent out a bunch of emails about 15 minutes ago, supposedly confirming who had the 5x offer attached to their account. The funny thing is that email went out to a ton of folks who hadn’t even used the TPG link and/or had signed up long after the promo was dead.
We have no idea if some of these are in error, or if Bilt just decided to give the promo to everyone one. Regardless, keep that email in case there are issues with the points posting.

Tomorrow, Bilt’s new credit card portfolio goes live, and those who have their cards in hand (unlike our own Nick Reyes) can start spending with them.
That’s especially for those folks who were able to get approved via a link exclusive to The Points Guy blog, available for 24 hours after applications went live, which gave approved applicants 5 days of 5x everywhere earning, up to a maximum of 50,000 bonus points. That 5-day clock will start at 12 am Saturday, so those who have it will undoubtedly want to get moving to try and maximize their bonus.

However, as Doctor of Credit reported a couple of days ago, there have been issues with the 5x offer attaching to some accounts, even when the applications were seemingly made while the increased offer was live. We’ve now seen numerous reports of people contacting Bilt and finding out that, contrary to what they believed, there was no 5x spending offer on their new cards.
As I understand it, the application page didn’t mention the 5x offer, before or after it was pulled, and there was also no mention that the promo was only valid for 24 hours. Because of that, some people who are having issues now may have thought they were applying for the 5x offer, but it had already been turned off. There’s also speculation that only instant approvals got the 5x; those applications that went pending didn’t.
Regardless, if you think your Bilt card will have the 5x everywhere promotion when it goes live, make sure to call Bilt to confirm that before you begin spending.

Had to set up manual check option for my mortgage since there is no payment portal from the bank. But when using a single payment there is no option to earn rewards because you can’t redeem Bilt cash but when I setup AutoPay it gave the option to choose redeem Bilt cash points. Perhaps it is a first day issue but wasn’t comfortable making a one time payment and not earn rewards so I chose AutoPay for now
I reached out nearly 24 hours ago asking for an update. Still no response via chat. I called and they directed me right back to the chat.
How do I reach them via chat? My emails are going unanswered.
I was able to reach out via the app and it prompted me to send messages through iMessage. However, still no response over 24 hours. Says I’m still in the queue.
Thanks. I will see how to do that in the app
So I feel foolish, but I can not figure out how to reach out in the app.
There’s the little person in the top right. Then you can select “chat with us”
Thank you Zach. It worked and now I am waiting for a specialist. Not holding my breath but at least I feel I have done something productive today
I was approved Jan 26 and still don’t have a shipping date for the new card.
A Bilt customer service specialist told me yesterday I would not need the physical card to activate the virtual one. But when I tried viewing the virtual card today, I got a warning in pink that I need to activate the physical card in order to see the virtual card details. And without a CVC from the virtual card, I can’t activate any card.
Argh what a mess of a roll out.
Anyone else still not gotten their card? Can’t access card number without activating physical card.
Was approved at 6am EST on the 15th before the offer expired.
If you were approved, you should have gotten a timestamped email from Bilt.
So, I suppose if you had a problem, you might be able to send them a screenshot of that.
Glad you told us as the article above does not, twice.
However, that timestamped email from BILT includes nothing about TPG, the so-called “5X for 5 Days Promotional Offer” or the 50K SUB bonus, so… the better proof is screenshot of using the TPG link, with the specific terms included, timestamped, but, then again, no one is regulating any of this anymore, so they can just say… ‘pound sand.’
I clicked the TPG link on the first day, but never applied. I ended up applying and was approved on January 23rd for the Palladium. I received the email today saying that I am approved for the special offer.
Hey, there’s another Jimmy here. Hi Jimmy!
hi
Spiderman meme.
What a bunch of jokers… both TPG and BILT should be ashamed (yet again). For those who signed up correctly and aren’t being honored, that’s what you get for trusting TPG, sadly. For those who get 5x, and didn’t even use the link, woah. BILT really should just honor 5x for everyone who applied by January 15 at noon EST.
My card hasn’t arrived yet. I applied about 10 days ago and was approved instantly. Hopefully I can use the digital card in the meantime.
I definitely applied and was approved using the TPG link before its announced expiration, but didn’t get the confirmation email 🙁 Hopefully it’s still coming…
Same for me
Confirmed with chat (live agent) a few days ago, and got the email this morning.
Read all the exclusions for the 5X promo
The following purchases and transactions are not eligible purchases for
purposes of earning bonus points under this Promotional Offer: rent, mortgage,
housing-related fees (e.g., HOA dues, utilities, amenity fees), tax payments, and third party
payment accounts and online marketplaces with retailers who submit purchases using a
mobile or wireless card reader or if you use a mobile or digital wallet, including financial
intermediaries or services that process payments between you and merchants instead of
directly using your card (including products that consolidate multiple payment methods into
a single card or platform), digital platforms where multiple third-party sellers offer products
or services, and payment processing systems that utilize portable card-reading devices that
connect to mobile networks or wireless internet.
Hoping I’m in a later round, as I applied through TPG link and escalated info to human support via chat yesterday confirming. ♂️
Woah!! Trust lost?! Did you guys know of the better TPG bonus but didn’t post it?! I applied via the FM link but if I don’t get clarity on this or no response then that will be the last time I use your link!
They did have it posted on their best offers page – but the offer didn’t last very long, so if you applied more than 24 hours after launch the offer had already expired.
To build on this further, Greg even commented in the fb group that he contacted Bilt to try to get a similar type of deal for FM readers after the TPG link had already been pulled in exchange for FM giving up any affiliate commission they would otherwise make. So yeah, Greg and the FM team go out of their way to get readers the best deal and your accusation otherwise is unfounded. Seeing as they don’t get rewarded for most of the links on their best offers page anyway, your threat to not use their links in the future isn’t exactly the flex you think it is…
What a fantastic idea. FM should make the same offer to all the other issuers…
lol relax mr. schmo. they posted that the TPG link was the best available and that they didnt have access to it on day one
Whoa buddy. Let me help you off that conclusion you just jumped to.
If you applied through FM while the TPG link was active, you applied through TPG because that’s the link we had up on our best offers page (and we posted about it AND listed that offer on the various card pages).
It was only live for 24 hours, so if you applied through us after that and didn’t see the 5x offer listed it’s because it was already dead.
Just to reiterate: we ALWAYS post the best public offer, regardless of who is getting paid – even if we have to use another blog’s affiliate link to make it happen.
The fact is that people either don’t read or they lack reading comprehension. And, rather than asking a simple question — “Just checking, did you guys post the TPG link on your best offer page?” — they come out swinging.
Thanks buddy ! To be clear – echoing Tom’s snide reading comprehension remark – I didn’t jump to a conclusion; I just merely asked a question!
Trust restored! Don’t spend those affiliate bucks at once! AI comin’ for us all!
F you jackass.
LOL…. HAHAHA.
What a Mensch! You guys always deliver!
It’s worth noting that Bilt is attempting to issue hundreds of thousands of replacement cards, as well as new cards, in the course of only two or three weeks.
Yes, and they said they would be able to do so. They shouldn’t be given any slack for their logistical failures.
Not to mention that it’s a completely self inflicted wound. They could have chosen to transition existing cardholders before opening up to new applicants. They chose not to.
I got a 5x offer email, up to 50,000 points. Even though I never applied via TPG, and I have the bilt blue card. Hoping it is not an error
no for me
