There are a few apps which offer cashback or rewards when ordering from Uber Eats, but Drop appears to have the best rate of all at the moment as they’re offering 108 points per dollar on Uber Eats orders.

Quick Thoughts

I have a Schwab Platinum Amex card and so get a $15 Uber/Uber Eats credit each month ($30 in December). It’s a very rare occasion when we need to catch an Uber, so we use the $15 credit each month on a pickup Uber Eats order to eliminate delivery charges and tip.

There are some apps which offer cashback or rewards when placing Uber Eats orders, so I always tap through from Dosh as they offer 5% cashback. Dosh’s terms state that you have to pay with a Dosh-connected card, but that’s not enforced. The Platinum credits are added as Uber Cash in the app, plus I have an additional Uber Cash balance on my account by loading discounted Uber/Uber Eats gift cards. My Uber Eats orders are therefore always paid for entirely with Uber Cash, but the transactions still track with Dosh despite not paying with a Dosh-connected card.

I therefore suspect that Drop’s offer will work in the same way, but I haven’t had a chance to verify it yet. Drop is offering 108 points per dollar which is worth 10.8% “cashback”, although Drop points are redeemed for gift cards rather than cash and so it isn’t true cashback.

Drop has a minimum redemption level of 25,000 points for a $25 gift card, so it can sometimes take a little while to reach that payout threshold. You earn 5,000 points when joining Drop, so you’d need to spend $185.19 with Uber Eats at the 108 points per dollar rate in order to reach the 25,000 threshold. That’s not a bad return, although there’s no indication from Dropped as to how long the 108x rate will last. In recent months they’ve also run flash sales where you can redeem 5,000 points for $5 Amazon gift cards, so that’s been a helpful way to cash out a lower number of points.
