Earn 2,500 Marriott points when linking Uber account

2

A couple of years ago Marriott launched a partnership with Uber which offers bonus points when taking rides or placing Uber Eats orders. Since then, they’ve regularly offered additional bonus points for linking your accounts, taking an Uber ride and/or placing an Uber Eats order.

Marriott now has another such offer that gives up to 2,500 bonus Bonvoy points when linking your accounts and then using Uber.

The Deal

  • Earn up to 2,500 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points when linking your Bonvoy account with your Uber account, taking an Uber ride and placing an Uber Eats order:
    • Get 500 points for linkking both your Uber and Marriott accounts
    • Get 1,000 points for completing a ride with Uber after account linkage
    • Get another 1,000 points for placing a food or grocery order with Uber Eats of $40 or more (excluding tax, tip and fees).

Marriott Uber Eats

Quick Thoughts

If you’ve not already linked your Marriott and Uber accounts and use Uber and/or Uber Eats, this is a fairly easy way to earn 2,500 bonus points.

I say “fairly” because there are a couple of key things to be aware of. If you want to earn the bonus points by taking an Uber ride, it has to be with Uber XL, Uber Black, Uber SUV, or Uber Comfort – Uber X, Uber Pet, etc. appear to be excluded. Based on a quick glance at rates to a random place near me, Uber XL would be twice the price of Uber X, although I imagine that varies depending on location, time of day, destination, etc.

If triggering the offer via Uber Eats, note that you have to spend $40 or more before taxes, fees and tips. I’m also not sure if pickup orders will work; the landing page says (my bolding) “Earn 1,000 bonus points on your first qualifying food or grocery order for delivery“. Pickup might work, but I wouldn’t count on it.

If you have an Amex Platinum card, remember that your monthly $15 credit will count towards fulfilling this offer.
