The Drop app is offering a Super Boost when buying a Sam’s Club membership which has increased the return to 45,000 points. That’s worth $45 and gets even better because the membership appears to come with a $20 Sam’s Club eGift card and free rotisserie chicken.
It’d be best to be quick if you’re interested in this deal because it might end today (July 26).
The Deal
- Buy Sam’s Club membership after tapping through from the Drop app to get 45,000 points (worth $45).
- Direct link to offer (my referral link – I think we both get 5,000 points worth $5)
- Greg’s referral link
Key Terms
- Expiry date unknown (might end today – July 26, 2020)
- You must be a new Club membership holder.
- You must purchase your Club membership through the button in the Drop app.
- Please allow up to 90 days after your purchase of a Club membership for your Drop points to be posted.
Quick Thoughts
You can tend to get a Sam’s Club membership for at least break even cost year-round due to different offers, from offers directly from Sam’s Club to Groupon to Amex Offers stacked with shopping portal cashback and more. This offer is a little better than most other options though because it appears to be a profitable deal which also comes with free food.
The Drop offer itself is break even because the 45,000 points you earn is worth $45 which is the same as the cost of a Sam’s Club membership. How it gets better is that when tapping through to Sam’s Club from the Drop app, the top of the page mentions that you’ll get a $20 Sam’s Club eGift card and a free rotisserie chicken when you join.
One thing that’s a little bit of a shame is that you have to actually tap through from Drop which means you can’t earn cashback through a shopping portal. It might be possible to stack this offer further though. One of my wife’s Chase business cards had a Sam’s Club membership Chase Offer recently which gave $10 back when buying a new membership. That’s since expired, but seeing as Chase Offers are targeted, there could be a similar offer with a different expiry date floating around on some cards. There’s no guarantee about that, but it’d be worth checking.
If you’re interested in this Sam’s Club membership deal, it’d be best to purchase it ASAP. Seeing as the offer is a Super Boost, the increased 45,000 point rate is unlikely to last long. Drop doesn’t list an expiry date for the increased earnings, but I suspect it’ll end either today (July 26) or tomorrow.
I’ve earned points through Drop a few times, but I’m not too familiar with the ins and outs of how it works. I believe normally you have to pay with a card you’ve linked in the app (similar to Dosh), but seeing as you’d be tapping through to Sam’s Club from the app, it might track in a similar way to a shopping portal. That might not be the case though, so it’d be best to pay with a card that’s linked in the app just in case.
Chatted with Sams today since I did not get the $20 card and they’re claiming I should have spent $20 at samsclub.com in the first 30 days to get the GC.I guess I did not read the fine print this time.
Still waiting on Drop points. Shows as pending.
For some reason, my offer was for $25. Location based? It doesn’t say anything about making a purchase, besides the club membership (which is coded as samsclub.com purchase). I would keep pushing. I don’t understand why these companies make this such a fight. Do you want me to shop there or convince me to stay away given your bad customer service?
Drop says 90 days for the points. Reminder in my calendar 10/27. Sigh.
I have Costco too, and I have spent money there quite a bit recently as I know they have good customer service. Tho they’ve haven’t been quite as good lately…
How long will it take for this to post? I have not seen any activity yet, neither the $20.
I’d have thought it would have posted – or at least tracked – by now, so it’d be worth contacting Drop in the app to submit a ticket.
My points are pending in the app.
I never received the e-gift card, nor the rotisserie chicken.
If you follow up with Sam’s Club, you should get them. I had issues with a different promotion in the past; I had to follow up a couple of times, but got the eGift card I was due in the end.
Where did you see that you will receive a $20 Sam’s Club eGift card when enrolling for a new member?
When tapping through to the Sam’s Club offer from the Drop app, the Sam’s Club landing page listed it at the very top. Part of it is covered over by the banner at the top though, so it might be that your device doesn’t let that section be seen.
What exactly does it mean to be a new SC member? My membership expired a few months ago and I’m considering signing up again.
I think Sam’s Club’s policy is that you can’t have been a member in the preceding 6 months.
Do you have anyone else in your household though? If so, you could have them sign up and you can have the second household member card that comes with the membership. My wife and I have alternated memberships for several years doing things that way.
I believe as long as you use a new email address you can usually get these new member offers to work.
