Quick Thoughts
These increased mileage payouts for magazine / newspaper subscriptions seem to come around periodically and can be a great way of boosting your mileage accounts at low cost.
The biggest downside with these deals is that you have to call to cancel the subscriptions as they can’t be cancelled online (unless you live in California). It’s also important to set up a reminder to cancel your subscription(s) at the correct time.
With the Barron’s deal, you have to keep the subscription for at least 45 days. That means you have between days 46-56 to cancel before your credit card will be charged again.
For the WSJ deal, you also have to keep the subscription for at least 45 days. With this deal though, you have between days 46-84 to cancel before they charge your card again.
For the Barron’s subscription (and possibly the WSJ subscription too) the terms suggest you should be able to take out multiple subscriptions – one via each portal – in order to earn multiple bonuses. Having said that, it might be worth holding out for higher bonuses through some of the portals.

[…] you didn’t take AAdvantage of the recent Wall Street Journal deal through the American Airlines eShopping portal, here’s a new opportunity to earn some bonus […]
These SW points should count toward CP?
For the Barron’s deal for each airline, the link from cashbackmonitor says: “Merchant Does Not Currently Participate In The Program.” Temporarily dead?
It looks like it for now. I’ll hold off on marking the deal as expired for now though in case it returns later on.
I receive the same message about Barron’s not participating.
Nice find. I can simultaneously earn miles and get bad financial advice from Barron’s. Then when they ask why I’m cancelling I can tell them how terrible their advice was.
Eligible on one subscription per loyalty account number – does that mean we have to pick between WSJ or Barron’s, or does it mean one subscription of that specific publication?
One subscription of that specific publication.
Can I have multiple subscriptions to each? (for example, can I have 3 subscriptions to Barrons for AA, AS, and UA? and 3 subscriptions to WSJ )?
I’m happy to pay a few dollars to get a few thousand miles in each program.
The terms suggest that’s possible, although I’ve not actually tried doing that myself before. If you do try doing that, it’d be worth doing it in incognito mode to give everything a better chance of tracking correctly. Make sure all incognito tabs are closed after completing one subscription before doing another one.
