Quick Thoughts

AAdvantage Dining sometimes offers more generous bonuses when joining the program, but this 500 bonus mile offer is the best current offer available (as far as I can tell) and has the benefit of earning both sides 500 bonus miles. If you were to refer your partner to the program, that’s 1,000 bonus miles you’ll earn between you once they spend $25+ at a participating restaurant with a linked card.

Something important to note from the terms is that this referral promotion excludes anyone who’s had a dining account with any of the other loyalty programs that Rewards Network administers such as IHG, Delta, United, etc.

Although many participating restaurants are local, independent dining establishments, there are sometimes some larger chains on there depending on your location. For example, when doing a quick search near where I am right now, chains include Moe’s Southwest Grill, Bertucci’s and Jersey Mike’s. With Jersey Mike’s, there’s an Amex Offer giving $5 back when spending $15 which can be done twice. If spending $30 gets you the two sets of statement credits in one go, you could refer your partner to AAdvantage Dining, have them spend $30 at Jersey Mike’s (even buying a $30 gift card for future use should work) with a linked Amex card with that Amex Offer loaded to it. You’d then earn $10 back in statement credits from the Amex Offer, 1,000 bonus AAdvantage miles between you, as well as 90 bonus miles as the base earning for the transaction (3 * $30). If the Amex Offer was loaded to an Amex Gold card, you’d also earn 120 Membership Rewards seeing as that card earns 4x at restaurants.

The referral page states “AAdvantage bonus miles do not count toward Loyalty Points”, so be aware of that if one of the purposes for you referring friends and family is to earn an equivalent number of Loyalty Points. You do earn Loyalty Points on AAdvantage Dining spend though.

I love the dining program. I use it for a bunch of meals, either for in-restaurant dining or pickup. Easy LPs.
