Get 500 free points (worth ~$40) when registering with Leading Hotels of the World

Citi recently announced that it had added a brand new transfer partner – Leading Hotels of the World. If that’s a partner you’re likely to use in the future, it could be worth setting up an account with them now as Travel With Grant has noticed they’re offering 500 bonus points for free when completing your profile. While that might not sound very generous initially when compared to how much hotel points in other programs are worth, Leading Hotels of the World points are much more valuable.

Key Terms

  • To receive this offer, you must login to LHW.com and complete all fields in the personal information section within your member profile. This offer expires 60 days from your date of registration. It may take up to ten (10) days for reward points to appear in your account.

Quick Thoughts

When clicking through to set up a Leaders Club account (the loyalty program of Leading Hotels of the World), you won’t see this offer for 500 bonus points. That’s because the offer gets sent via email after you’ve gone through the initial registration process.

It should be noted that there’s no guarantee that you’ll be offered the 500 bonus points. However, Grant of Travel With Grant reported getting that offer. Greg subsequently registered and shortly after received that same offer too. Seeing as the bonus points offer came via email and was being offered in return for completing your profile, it’d therefore be best to only do the initial registration section when first signing up. Don’t complete your profile immediately before you get the email as that’ll presumably affect whether or not you get offered the 500 bonus points.

Earning 500 bonus points just for filling out your profile is a surprisingly generous offer considering how much Leading Hotels of the World points are worth. If this was IHG, I’d peg those points as being worth ~$2.50. With Hyatt I might value them at ~$7.50-$10. However, when Greg was running award searches with the program earlier this week, he was finding that Leading Hotels of the World points are worth ~8cpp. That makes this 500 bonus points offer worth ~$40 which is a far more enticing opportunity for such little effort.

I wonder if Citi is planning on releasing the Strata card soon, its a little odd that they added a transfer partner that is so much of a high end redemption, it makes me think the Strata is not far away.

I never got an email, but when I went to my profile after registering, the things I needed to do to get my 500 points was there.

Andy

FYI points expire after 24 months but can be extended with activity.

Thanks! That’s definitely worth mentioning. I suppose transferring from Citi every 2 years would do it. https://www.lhw.com/leaders-club/faqs

I didn’t get an email but when I logged in a couple of days after registering and went to my profile there was a checklist of the sections I needed to complete to get 500 points.
