Marriott has launched a new partnership today with both Uber and Uber Eats. By linking your accounts you can earn up to 6x bonus Bonvoy points for every dollar spent with the ridesharing and food ordering apps, as well as 2,000 bonus points when linking your accounts and making a qualifying transaction.
The Deal
- Earn bonus Marriott Bonvoy points with Uber and Uber Eats in the following ways:
- 6x points per dollar on Uber Eats deliveries to Marriott brand hotels in the US with a
$25$40 minimum basket. - 2x points per dollar on Uber Eats deliveries to non-Marriott hotel locations and food pick-ups in the US with a
$25$40 minimum basket. - 3x points per dollar on Uber XL, Comfort & Black rides in the US.
- 6x points per dollar on Uber Eats deliveries to Marriott brand hotels in the US with a
Key Terms
- Members may earn Marriott Bonvoy points for qualifying Uber rides and Uber Eats transactions that occur within the U.S. and are ordered through an Uber account associated with a U.S. phone number. Uber users who do not currently have a Marriott Bonvoy account can join for free here. Only one account can be linked per member.
Quick Thoughts
At first glance I thought earning 6x Marriott Bonvoy points on Uber Eats orders was a great offer seeing as there’s nothing you need to do beyond linking your accounts. However, you only earn 6x points on orders of $25+ $40+ and only when getting food delivered to hotels in the Marriott family.
For food deliveries elsewhere and pickup orders you only earn 2x points and you again have to have a minimum basket of $25 $40. Still, if you ever order food from Uber Eats this is an easy way to earn bonus Marriott points due to not needing to do anything special after linking accounts.
Earning 3x points on Uber rides is also a pretty good offer, but note that you’ll only earn bonus points for Uber XL, Comfort and Black rides. If you normally pick UberX rides due to those being the lowest price, you won’t earn any Marriott points. 3x points isn’t a high enough rate to forgo the savings received by picking UberX over one of the higher priced options.
Seeing as Marriott points are earned by linking your accounts, it’ll stack with other offers. You can pay using monthly Uber credits from personal Amex Platinum and Gold cards and/or with Uber gift cards you bought at a discount.
To link your accounts, open the Uber app and then select Menu > Settings > Marriott Bonvoy in the Rewards section. You’ll then be prompted to log in to your Marriott account; once you’ve done that your accounts will be linked.
Thanks for posting this. No interaction I’ve had with the Uber app has been seamless. The button on the link page didn’t work at first but after I force-quit the app, I got it to respond. I spent an extortionate amount on what turned out to be an UberX (and successfully disputed the nonsense wait-time fee) and now see the qualifying charge had to be at least an UberXL, which seems to be a specially behemoth-sized car that sucks up unnecessary space on Manhattan’s streets. Guess I’ll stick with Uber Eats, though the code with which they targeted me by e-mail earned an “Oops, you’re not cool enough for this promotion” message. Uber sucks.
Uber app asked me to confirm my account, sent me a code and once confirmed, Marriott deal showed up. East Peasy.
Looks like a clever way to kill 2 birds with one stone – helps Marriott push back when guests complain that the hotel has no services or restaurant open. And for Uber is gives them a path to ditch their Rewards program which they seem to be having difficulties with.
I am not seeing the Dosh offer for Uber (Eats), but linking Marriott seems to be working now. They sent me an email saying they had a problem this morning and have now fixed it.
Some Dosh offers are targeted, but I’d thought the Uber Eats one was available to everyone – apparently not.
I have noticed the Dosh/Uber Eats offer to sometimes vary. A few times I haven’t seen it at all, sometimes I get 1.5%, and usually 5.5%.
Did anyone get the 2000 points? I don’t see any mention of that in the offer.
Those points get awarded after you link your accounts and also have a qualifying transaction (eligible Uber ride or $25+ Uber Eats order).
So they don’t make any reference to that during the linking/on the offer page?
It’s not mentioned on the landing page unfortunately, but was mentioned in the press release they sent out.
Oh, interesting. Thanks for the reply, I will give it a try!
I just received an email about this and it mentions the 2,000 bonus points offer, so I’ve added the terms above.
this is one way to keep Marriott point alive 😀
I don’t see any mention of 2000 bonus points, after I click on the link.
Yes it wont let my log in, just doesn’t do anything when clicking the log in button. Glad it’s not just me. I’m sure they are figuring out the bugs, Marriott infamous IT is involved in this after all, it can’t be expected to work properly the first time.
reset password and try again. the sign in button takes like 5 seconds to react FYI.
Reset Marriott password?
Why should I be forced to reset my password in order to sign up for a promotion. That’s a craptastic user experience.
Yeah, changing the password didn’t work for me. It only accomplished changing the password 🙁
doesn’t let me log in on the uber app when I click to the marriott login page. anyone else experiencing this issue?
same issue
Same
FYI – resetting my password in the app and then trying again worked.
Same experience for me. Boy I miss SPG IT. Marriott sucks in comparison.
Same for me, but after trying over and over it eventually went through. No need to reset pw.
