Joe

I recently applied for this card, and as I read the fine print on the foreign transaction fee, it reads like this “Foreign Transaction – 0% of each transaction in U.S. dollars.:”. I called the Barclays CC customer service number and try to confirm if that was a mistake, and she confirmed it is exactly like it reads, that foreign transactions have to be in US dollars. I told her that is the craziest thing I ever heard about a CC with no foreign transaction fee as I know that the conversion fee (i.e. ask a local merchant to charge in US dollars) is really high because of the conversion fee plus the fact that the conversion rate is not good at all. I am wondering if others had any experience charging foreign transactions using this card with local currency. Did Barclays convert to US dollars at market rate and waive the foreign transactions fee, like commonly understood how cards with no foreign transaction fees are supposed to work?
