Find the right bites, standard rooms for six, and more

Welcome to this week’s Frequent Miler week in review around the web, where we recap some good finds from around the ‘net.

Best Hyatt Hotels for Families of Five or More

While some of the Hyatt suite upgrades I’ve gotten lately have certainly been big enough for 6 or 8 people to find a spot on a couch/chaise/floor to sleep, I had no idea that some Hyatts allow up to six people in a standard room. This post from Miles for Family outlines some of the best places to stay if you’re traveling in a party of five or six.

New Bank of America ‘3/12, 4/24 Rule’ for Credit Card Approvals – Contribute your Data Points

It’s definitely a changing landscape in terms of various banks attempting to slow down your ability to open new cards. Here, Doctor of Credit covers speculation about Bank of America’s new application rules. While you will not generally find rules like this in black and white, it’s interesting to read through the post and comments to get a feel for the data points and what they mean.

Three Surprisingly Good Ways to use Hotel Points

In this post, The Deal Mommy reminds us of some good uses of points — and I think I’ve done all of the above this year alone. One great tip in this post is about booking before midnight if you’re looking for a same-day booking as most search engines won’t let you book after that. A quick tip I noticed recently was that I had trouble with this recently while using the SPG app. I was actually looking for a property that was a time zone behind me (where it was still before midnight). While I couldn’t go to the previous day via the app, I used a VPN on my computer to connect through a server in the proper time zone and was then able to pull up the “previous” day’s availability (I was hoping for an early check in and wanted to see if the hotel was sold out that night before I arrived in the morning). That could come in handy on a road trip (I didn’t try using the VPN on my phone, but I imagine that could also work).

Bitemojo App – Self-Guided Food Tour – A Creative and Delicious Way to Check Out Rome (and Other Cities too)

Kathy at Will Run for Miles covers an interesting new app that sounds like it has a lot of potential. Some people love museums, others architecture, some travel for natural beauty — but there’s no doubt that I love to eat when I travel. Finding the right places can sometimes be a challenge, so I’m curious to check out this app the next time I get a chance to travel to a city they cover (it’s fairly limited at the moment, but I could see this expanding). How do you find a great bite when you’re traveling?

That’s it for this week around the web. Check back soon for this week’s last chance deals.
