The latest round of Flying Blue Promo Rewards is out and the list includes awards between several US cities and Europe for 25% off, as well as 25-50% off business class awards between Europe and Canada. As has been the case in recent months, although the landing page suggests it’s 25% off economy awards, there appears to be some discounted business class awards available also.

Quick Thoughts

Flying Blue award pricing varies by origination and destination city, so there’s not any uniform pricing available. Award pricing can also vary from day-to-day, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll see the headline rates listed on the landing page for each of the eligible US cities.

There are discounted awards available, though. For example, nonstop one-way flights in economy from Atlanta to Paris can be had from 15,750 miles + $62.40 in taxes and fees.

The same award pricing is available if visiting Athens, with the taxes and fees being slightly higher at $79.20.

In the past, Flying Blue split out Promo Rewards listings by economy and business class pricing. However, in recent months they’ve stopped doing that and so now the landing page simply lists award pricing as “Starting from xx,xxx miles.” That makes it seem like the Promo Rewards are only valid on economy flights, but there is discounted business class award pricing out there.

For example, Austin to Amsterdam is available from 68,000 miles + $198.60 in business class. I normally associate Flying Blue “saver” pricing to Europe as beeing around 70K each way, but pricing has crept up closer to 80-100K recently…so this might be normal saver pricing or discounted promo pricing, it’s hard to know. Regardless, it’s a good price one-way from AUS-AMS:

…while Montreal to CDG (advertised at 50% off) is only slightly less expensive at 55,000 miles + $233.90.

There might be even better pricing available in business, but this was the best that I found within the few dates that I tried. Let me know in the comments if you find anything better.

There are definitely some 50% off business promo awards available from Montreal.

For example, 3/21 to CDG is 35,000.
To BER it’s 30,250.
To BUD only 27,500.

Fantastic deals if you can take advantage.

Easy to search on the app. Once you put in the city pair and select Business, it will automatically show the lowest price available on the route. Once you find a date with availability, “Promo reward” will show with a bright orange banner.

My confusion is about cancellability. I thought promo rewards were non-cancellable. But the app says it is refundable for 50 EUR, same as regular awards.

The website says the same. Screenshot it with a time stamp in case they try to say otherwise later…

I’ve no issues within the past 2 months canceling award bookings. Correct on the $50 EUR. Now you do have to call, but they DO answer the phone and get you to an agent in reasonable time unlike the big 3 US carriers. Great working with Flying Blue.

Still a 25% transfer bonus from Amex until 12/7, correct?

Yes, just got two business class tickets from Toronto to CPH via AMS in May for around 65K Amex points total 🙂
