Free 1-year New York Times subscription with $500+ Delta gift card purchase

0

Delta Airlines is offering members a one-time-use link in their email to purchase a Delta gift card and activate a complimentary one-year all-access digital subscription to the New York Times when they buy a gift card of $500 or more. I currently see a promotional rate of $1 per week for the first year of New York Times All-Access, so this is at least a $52 value. If you would otherwise pay full price for the subscription (or be ineligible for the promotional rate), this could be a better deal yet.

The Deal

  • Delta is offering a one-year complimentary New York Times All-Access subscription when you click through a one-time link in your email and buy a gift card of $500 or more.
  • Search your email for the subject line, “Unlock A Year Of The New York Times On Us”

Key Terms

  • Eligible SkyMiles Members will receive a unique, non-transferable, one-time-use URL via email that directs them to the Delta Gift Card New York Times promotional site. The link will allow the SkyMiles Member to take advantage of the promotional offer.
  • While supplies last or until 7/20/26 11:59pm ET, eligible SkyMiles Members can purchase USD $500 or more in Delta Gift Cards on the promotion website starting 6/29/26 and receive a Voucher for twelve (12) months of The New York Times with your qualifying Delta Gift Card purchase.
  • Eligible customers will receive no more than one (1) New York Times Voucher per eligible SkyMiles Member, regardless of the number of purchases, email forwards, or URLs accessed.
  • Once the qualifying purchase is completed and the New York Times Voucher has been issued, customers will be automatically redirected to the standard Delta Gift Card website (https://buy.giftcards.delta.com ), where the promotion will no longer be available for purchase. Subsequent Delta Gift Card purchases will not qualify for additional New York Times Vouchers.
  • The New York Times Voucher will be emailed separately from the Delta Gift Card to the purchaser’s email address listed at time of purchase.
  • The New York Times Voucher will expire on 6/28/27 at 11:59pm ET, if not redeemed prior to that time.
  • The Delta Gift Card New York Times Subscription Offer is only available to SkyMiles Members who (i) directly receive the Delta marketing email communicating this Offer and (ii) access the promotion through the unique URL provided in that email.
  • This offer is only available to Eligible SkyMiles Members aged 18+ who are not current New York Times subscribers at the time of receiving the Delta marketing email communication this Offer.
  • To redeem the offer, you must not be a current New York Times subscriber.
  • This offer entitles you to twelve (12) months of complimentary access to New York Times All Access courtesy of Delta when you redeem the unique access code in accordance with these terms and conditions (“Complimentary Access”). You are required to create or log into an account with The New York Times in order to redeem the unique access code. There is no credit card required to redeem the access code, and your access does not automatically renew following conclusion of the Complimentary Access period.

Quick Thoughts

As noted at the top, I currently see a promotional rate of $1 per week for 1 year of New York Times All Access. That means a year should cost you $52 if you’re eligible for that introductory promotional rate. That’s a pretty good bonus to get on top of the cost of the $500 gift card if you value a subscription to the New York Times and you fly Delta.

If you’re not eligible for a promotional rate, perhaps because you’ve had one before, then this deal would become significantly more appealing. I imagine that quite a few readers have a household Platinum card that has a digital entertainment credit that can be used for the New York Times. If you don’t and/or if you use your digital entertainment credit for other things, and you also fly Delta, this seems like a pretty good deal.

One particularly awesome aspect of this deal is that your subscription will not automatically renew, so you don’t need to worry about forgetting to cancel and being charged for a renewal.
