Free M.A.C lipstick today (in-store only)

Let me preface this by saying that my wife insisted we post this deal and though it awards no miles or points, it’s free, and that seemed solid enough as to potentially interest some readers. Today only, in honor of National Lipstick Day (yes, someone made that a thing) M.A.C Cosmetics is giving away one free full-size tube of lipstick per customer in-store only (and at participating retailers that carry M.A.C products — seems to vary with some Ulta/Macy’s/Nordstrom locations participating and some not). I don’t know my M.A.C from my Maybelline, but free sounded like the right price.

The Deal

• One free tube of lipstick of your choice per customer, available in-store only at M.A.C and at select M.A.C retailers
• Tube is full-size (not a sample size)
• Colors and quantities are likely to vary

Quick Thoughts

From the little bit of reading I did about this deal here and here, it sounds like this is a popular promotion that might require getting to the store early. According to that link from Time magazine, a tube typically sells for about $17, so if you can drag a partner along, that’s a $34 value for free. Reports differ on colors available — a couple of users at Slickdeals say these are the swatches that will be available. Years ago, I used to help with promotions at a ski resort where we would sometimes give away a set of skis or a snowboard via completely free raffle tickets. When people would ask me what size the board or skis were, I would say that it’s the free size. And that’s how I’d go into this promo as well — your preferred color may not be available or your store may have limited stock (or may not even participate)….but if you score one, it’s free. That’s always a nice price!

Again, YMMV on participation, but if you’re driving to or past a store today, it might be worth popping in to check.
