Walmart+ Travel has a potentially useful offer at the moment, giving $100 Walmart Cash when spending $500+ on a stay, car rental, travel package or activities. There’s also an outside chance that you could save 10% on a hotel stay booked this way when combined with a separate Amex Offer.

Quick Thoughts
This deal has the potential to be a great offer seeing as it can save you up to 20% on eligible travel. You have to be a Walmart+ member to make use of it, so don’t forget that you can get a free Walmart+ membership when subscribing monthly and paying with an eligible Amex card such as an Amex Platinum, Business Gold or Business Platinum. Note that you have to enroll in that benefit on your card before paying for the Walmart+ membership with it.
The description of the offer at the top of the landing page only mentions car rentals, hotel stays and travel packages, but the more detailed terms at the bottom of the page state that activities are included as well. It’s good to have that extra option, but with there being a Viator Amex Offer and high shopping portal rates for Viator available, booking activities via Walmart+ might not be the best value even with the $100 Walmart Cash.
There are other downsides to booking through Walmart+ Travel as well. One is that you’d be forgoing shopping portal rewards in many cases. If you’d be using the offer to book a hotel stay, you also wouldn’t earn hotel points, receive status benefit or elite night credits, etc. as you wouldn’t be booking directly with the hotel chain. That will be a moot point though if it’s a hotel chain you don’t care about or when booking independent hotels.
There is a possible stacking opportunity if you’ll be booking a hotel stay, but I’m far from certain this will work. Walmart+ Travel is powered by Expedia and last week we highlighted that there’s an Expedia Amex Offer giving 10% back when booking prepaid hotel stays on up to $1,250 of spend. If you book a prepaid hotel stay through Walmart+ Travel, that payment might be processed in a way that triggers the statement credit from that Expedia Amex Offer. However, I’d count that as a bonus if it works, rather than relying on it to make this deal worthwhile to you.
