Regardless of whether you’re in the market for a first time Costco membership, or looking to add another one to expand your 2% Executive member rebate capacity, Costco is currently offering a terrific promotion that could be very appealing.
For the next month, you can get a Costco membership that’s “free-ish” with a Groupon offer that gives you a $50 Costco card and a $100 coupon good on $200+ in online purchases when buying an Executive Membership for $130.
There’s also a deal available on a Costco Gold membership (that doesn’t include the 2% back on purchases), which gives you the $50 Costco card but no online coupon.

Quick Thoughts
The Executive Membership isn’t “free” because you have to spend money at Costco to use the gift card and the coupon, but for me that’s almost as good as cash.
If you’ve been thinking about joining Costco or if you’ve been looking to add a bit more space to your annual 2% rebate (like I am), this is a no-brainer opportunity to get off the fence and try it for a year.
If you are signing up for a second Executive Membership, make sure to use a different e-mail and phone number than what’s associated with your current one. Costco won’t let you use the same info on two memberships. You can have both a business and a personal account at the same address.

I remember signing up for executive and not using it enough to justify the cost of the membership so Costco paid me the difference… is that still a thing?
Costco will, but in this case, you’re paying Groupon, and the terms say that all sales are final. My assumption is that means no refunds.
Yes, it is. It’s worth signing up for executive, you have nothing to lose.
Can this be used for Costco tires, but not the installation of tires?
Or you could buy a French Costco membership for 36 euro that is valid worldwide!
JustSaying…………
How have I never heard of this tip, is this true? I need more details 🙂
Google or ChatgPT it!
Thanks for the tip about personal and biz memberships working at the same address!
Except it seems like the T&C’s will make it so you can’t collect the ‘sign up bonuses’ for the groupon deal if you already have an existing account of any kind and your name is tied to it. That’d be cool if I was wrong, though!
For $100 off from $200+ online order,
Do 3rd party GCs(like InKind) count towards $200?
My assumption would be yes since they aren’t excluded in the terms.
Yes, that’s not an issue.

Buyer beware. I bought a Groupon offer years ago for a similar promo at Sams Club. It never worked as Sams Club had no knowledge that Groupon was doing this and they could not figure out how to honor the offer. Quite a few employees/manager(s) tried but nothing worked and they really tried as I was spending over 100k a year at Sams and they wanted to keep me happy. Groupon said “oh well nothing we can do” and I lost out on the money I paid. After the third time trying to use a Groupon offer that didn’t work and they would not refund my money I gave up using Groupon as for me I felt they were just scamming me.
That’s an easy dispute on your credit card….
So what would be your strategy for someone who has 6 months left in the current membership? Sign up P2 and cancel current membership after 6 months?
Same. And, to add a degree of difficulty, what if P2 is already a secondary member (same as Household…? idk)? SOL?
Personally, I removed my P2 from my account when I created hers. I know people who didn’t and never had an issue, I’ve also known folks who didn’t and had the second account cancelled.
If you only want one, that’s what I’d do.
