Update 2/2/20: There’s a 10% version of this offer that’s valid until February 26, 2020. There might be other discounts available too, so check the Chase Offers, BankAmeriDeals, etc. on all your cards. Unlike Amex Offers, if you have this offer on multiple cards then you can load and redeem it on each one.
Update 12/23/19: Some cardholders are once again seeing these offers for cash back at Staples. The percentage and cap varies. (H/T: DoC)
Update 9/29/19: A new round of targeted Staples Chase Offers have gone out with an expiry date of October 30, 2019.
Update 9/7/19: Another new round has gone out, this time with an expiry date of September 20, 2019.
~
There is a new round of Chase Offers going out that is good for cash back at Staples. According to Doctor of Credit, it is possible that there are different targeted versions offering higher or lower percentages back up to the same cap (from 5-25% back). The deal is good until September 15, 2019, so it’s worth syncing and waiting a couple of weeks to see if any fee-free gift card promos return (though note that a gift card purchase may not trigger the cash back). In my case, I was targeted for 10% back (up to $6 back).
The Deal
- See your Chase Offers for a possible targeted cash back offer of 5-25% back (maximum amount back varies from $3.50 to $17.50, see your offer for details)
Key Details
- Valid one time only (not cumulative, so max it out on the first purchase)
- Valid until
September 15, 2019February 26, 2020. - Offer is targeted and varies, so check your offers for details
Quick Thoughts
Again, I’d recommend syncing and then holding off unless you need to make an immediate purchase with Staples. Keep in mind the relatively low cap — in my case, I’d only get 10% back on a purchase of up to $175. That would still come out profitable if a gift card purchase triggered the offer, though I believe DPs on that are mixed.
Also keep in mind that only the first purchase you make after syncing will trigger the offer — so be sure to make your largest transaction first after syncing this offer.

Not to be a killjoy but the maximum return on the Chase offers I’ve seen discussed here just isn’t worth most peoples’ time.
Any idea why Chase doesn’t have the depth of Amex?
Also any thought on why neither Amex or Chase notify you of offers at places where you have previously shopped?
For example, it’s not cannibalizing business when I get an offer of 20% off at Total Wine or some other place I haven’t shopped in awhile.
I really hate Amex making me go through 100’s of offers. Am I missing a better way?

Killjoy Chase works for me and AMEX will work for me soon . Things and terms change all the time keep ur options open .
