Quick Thoughts
Saving 10% on Disney and Hotels.com gift cards is a good offer as these brands don’t go on sale much anymore. Southwest gift cards are frequently available from Costco and Sam’s Club for 14% off, but that’s on $500 cards and so this Giftcards.com sale could be useful if you’d rather be smaller denominations.
You can save and earn significantly more than 10% though. For starters, you can buy these gift cards using Giftcards.com gift cards which are also discounted by 10% when buying $100 denominations. Clicking through from a shopping portal will earn you additional rewards, plus there’s a Giftcards.com Chase Offer giving 5% back.
Here’s the order in which you’d need to conduct this stacking opportunity:
- Load the Giftcards.com Chase Offer to whichever Chase cards you’re targeted on.
- Click through to Giftcards.com from a shopping portal.
- Buy a $100 Giftcards.com gift card for $90 using promo code GIVEGC10 and pay with your card that has the Chase Offer loaded to it.
- Once you’ve received that, click back through to Giftcards.com from a shopping portal.
- Buy a $100 gift card for $90 using promo code GCWEEK10 and pay with the Giftcards.com gift card.
If we assume you earn 3% cashback from a shopping portal, here’s what you should end up with for only $90 out of pocket:
- $100 gift card for Disney, Hotels.com, etc.
- $10 remaining on your Giftcards.com gift card
- $5.40 cashback from the shopping portal ($90 * 3% * 2 transactions)
- $4.50 cashback from the Chase Offer
That’s almost $120 of value for only $90 (i.e. a 33% bonus on that initial spend). Make sure you keep track of the various $10 Giftcards.com gift card balances that you’ll end up with if you take advantage of this offer several times. If you don’t want the mental bandwidth of tracking those, dozens – if not hundreds – of brands can be bought in $10 denominations from Giftcards.com to drain those cards.
I don’t see a way to use more than one giftcards.com gift card at check out. Meaning, I don’t see way to apply all three $100 Giftcards.com gift cards for a $333 Disney card
Can you use their gift cards to buy visa from their site?
Unfortunately not – you can’t redeem them for cards that have fees (other than Gift of College cards)
Have you considered bringing back GC Galore in a limited fashion for national deals?
I’m afraid not
🙁
The giftcards.com gift card has to be bought in $100 denominations but there is no restriction on the others. So the best is to 3 times get the $100 giftcards.com gift card with GIVEGC10 (for $270 total). Then use those to get a $333.33 Disney or other gift card with GCWEEK10 which will exactly use up the 3x$100 giftcards.com gift cards.
As others mentioned use Chase FF with 5% offer loaded and pay with PayPal for 5% more (FF quarterly bonus). Plus 2×4% shopping portal bonus. Brings cash back on the $270 purchase up to a total of 18%. Which brings the cost to you down to $221.40 for a $333.33 Disney (or other) gift card! That’s more than a 50% bonus!
* $331.34 Disney Gift Card so the giftcards.com gift card covers shipping too.
I don’t see a way to use more than one giftcards.com gift card at check out. Meaning, I don’t see way to apply all three $100 Giftcards.com gift cards for a $333 Disney card
I was able to successfully order six (6) $100 Disney gift cards in one order using the promo code. Total shipping cost was $8.75, but paired with the chase offer plus Q4 paypal 5%, still a great deal for an already planned Disney trip.
I did receive shipping confirmation and tracking as well as a pending -> purchase transaction from chase, so no order confirmation. I didn’t dare try my luck with more than six cards and risk cancellation, but the promo code was applying for me up to twelve (12) $100 Disney gift cards for those wanting to test the waters.
FYI you can buy the Disney cards in any denomination, so you can play with amounts around $109 + shipping to milk the GC.com card closer to $0 and not be left with $10 on each.
Which shopping portal do you recommend using for this?
Check cashback monitor. I did RebatesMe for 4%
C1 Shopping at 10% is tracking for both right now.
Thanks for posting this Stephan. A few notes: the example you gave is not scalable. The 10% off Giftcards.com gift card can only be used for up to $100 x 3 = $300 (i.e. capped at $30 savings per transaction, $60 per account). Most shopping portals don’t list GIVEGC10 so you may not get anything back. For the Chase 5% Chase offer, you can only use it once (on up to $1,000 spend), so make sure you use it all in one transaction. On a positive note, sign up for the Giftcards.com rewards program. You’ll get 2% in points to use towards future purchases. The Giftcards.com gift cards don’t earn 2% so you can’t double dip.
Brilliant. As always, you never fail to amaze me!
The step by step outline is extremely helpful.
Thank you for taking the time to do that.
AND if you participate in the giftcards.com rewards program, you’ll earn points that you can then redeem towards a future gift card purchase.
They also accept Paypal as payment method, so it can be a way of maximizing Freedom and Freedom Flex cards this quarter.
Does anyone know if you can pay for Gift of College gift cards with Giftcards.com gift cards?
Yes!
Is this still accurate? I know they worked when they first started selling GoC cards and weren’t charging the fees, but the terms for the Giftcards.com gift cards say they can’t be used for cards with fees.
I just purchased some yesterday using the Giftofcollege.com gift cards I purchased at 10% discount. Makes it negative $4.05 each time I buy $100 Gift of College gift cards. Also, I get 2% Giftcards.com points for future purchases.
Awesome! Thanks for the update!
gift cards galore! 😉
