Good availability from US to Taipei on Delta One from 98,000 SkyMiles (83,300 for Delta cardholders)

PointsYeah has highlighted that there’s currently good availability when flying to Taipei in business class using Delta SkyMiles. One-way prices are available from 98,000 SkyMiles or as low as 83,300 miles if you’re a Delta credit cardholder.

Taipei Taiwan

The Deal

  • Book one-way flights to Taipei in Delta One from as low as 83,300 SkyMiles.

Key Terms

  • Availability through February 2025.

Quick Thoughts

The 98,000 SkyMiles pricing is available from Seattle to Taipei which is Delta’s only nonstop flight to Taipei. Award availability is pretty good through February, although there’s a gap in availability from mid-November to mid-December. Here’s availability for October/November though:

SEA-TPE availability Oct-Nov

Availability is also good from other cities around the US, including the east coast. For example, there’s availability from Atlanta nearly every day from late January through February, although non-Seattle locations are pricing out at a higher rate of 120,000 SkyMiles one-way.

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a corresponding amount of low priced award inventory coming the other way. Instead, Taipei to Seattle is pricing out at 215,000 SkyMiles one-way.

Remember that if you’re a Delta credit cardholder that you get a 15% discount on award bookings. That means the 98,000 miles pricing would be discounted to only 83,300 miles, while 120,000 miles would drop to 102,000 miles.

In order to get the same low redemption for return flights to the US, you have to do round-trip searches/redemptions instead of one-way searches/redemptions. I did SLC-TPE one-way, outbound was 102,000 miles (having DL AMEX) but all of the inbound back to US one-way searches resulted in crazy rates like 288,000 or 380,000. However, if I do a RT search using the same dates for outbound and inbound using the same dates as I did for my one-way searches, a rate of 200,400 for the RT redemption miraculously showed up.

Chris

how do you get one month calendar display?

Bob

So what’s the best way to get back to Chicago (on any airline) with a reasonable amount of miles?

Clara

just booked two one-way Delta One tickets for my parents from SEA, your screenshot had 10 open days in Oct and now only 3 left… 😉
it pays to get subscribed, thanks Stephen and FM team!

I’m in Taipei right now from the 140k r/t. This route is the a330-900 which has a slightly large d1 suite than their flagship a350. They also have mattress pads on this route.

Clara

how did you get it for 140K r/t? on the return flight, is it worth get the 100k premium, or 42k comfort+ or plain economy for just 31k? thanks!

There was a sale for like 6hrs a couple months ago that FM posted.

Sea-tpe is a daytime flight. Tpe-sea is a nighttime. The Premium seat is like domestic first plus a foot rest. I’ve never flown it. If you have a ton of SM, I think it would be a good use.

Sandy

There are many UA premium economy seats at 65,000 miles for one-way from TPE back to the US that can complement this Delta redemption. However, after playing around with this redemption last night, I found that searching for round-trip instead of doing one-way searches for this Delta One redemption, it opens up the lower redemption rate inventory for the return flights to the US.

Clara

I was booking comfort+ (42k) for the return flight and it popped up premium for 64k (instead of direct search of 100k), and I took it. So now my total is 98k+64k = 162k (delta one and premium).

Clara

Thanks Sandy! I took your tip and re-booked the r/t for 196k 🙂

Sandy

Hi Clara, I’m so happy you were able to find r/t for 196k !!!! Safe travels !

Lantean

JFK-SEA-TPE also 120k…. very rare for Delta to be able to redeem like this.

Where is Taipei?

Ted

A little googling wouldn’t hurt you.

Loungeabuser

It’s where losing Little League baseball teams are based

Diego

Wrong, that’s Taoyaun, not Taipei.

loungeabuser

ABC said Taipei, so I didn’t assume they were being lazy or lying. Is this like saying my team won the Little League World Series in 1966, but it’s not Houston,it’s Westbury Little League?
