Google is offering its new 2TB Google One storage plan and a Google Nest Hub for $99.99. That’s already a pretty solid deal, but it gets a bit better yet if you have the Amex Offer for 20% back on an annual plan of $19.99 or more as that will drop the net cost down to about $80l. Given that the Nest Hub is currently on sale for $50 on its own (full price is listed at $99.99), this seems like a great deal for those who need the storage.

Quick Thoughts

One thing to keep in mind is the date that Google shows your subscription will be charged. I saw some reports on Slickdeals from people who are on trial subscriptions and it said that they would not be charged for the next annual plan for a couple of months (note that the Amex Offer expires on 11/27/21).

According to Slickdeals, you will receive an email with instructions for how to redeem for the Nest Hub about a week after upgrading to the 2TB plan.

If you are already on the 2TB plan, I do not believe there is a way to get this deal.

In my case, I was already on the 100GB plan for $0.99/mo as a promotional deal. Just my luck, the promotional pricing was scheduled to end this month, so it was the perfect time for me to upgrade.

I don’t actually need 2TB of storage, but I was getting close to the 100GB cap because of old photos stored at full resolution. This gives me plenty of space and a Nest Hub (something I thought about purchasing for the holidays anyway).

If you don’t need storage space at all, this deal isn’t worth it, but if you are already in need of the storage space this is a solid deal. Keep in mind that a paid Google One subscription gives you 10% back in Store credit on all device purchases from the Google Store. I had upgraded last year during a trade-in promotion. I bought a phone that was $500 and traded in a Pixel 3XL — they were offering $320 trade-in credit on the Pixel 3XL, but the way the Google Store does that is they charge you the full $500 and then later refund the trade-in value. That meant that I got $50 in store credit plus the $320 trade-in, which was a solid deal. I’ve been hoping for the Pixel Fold to come out and to time it with a good trade-in deal – we’ll see (note that T-Mobile Magenta Max customers can currently get $900 off the Pixel 6 Pro with a decent range of trade-ins — including the Pixel 4a 5G that I bought with the Pixel 3XL trade-in mentioned above – but that is only available via T-Mobile and not the Google Store).
