Miles for Family today flagged a great (see what I did there?) promotion from Great Wolf Lodge for Leap day: promo code LEAP brings rates down to prices starting from $29 per person per night. I personally booked a night at one of their locations for about 45% less than the next best price I could find for the same dates — and I’ve seen some dates discounted a bit more yet.

The Deal

  • Great Wolf Lodge is running a “Leap Day Sale” with prices from $29 per person today-only (2/29/24) for stays from 2/29-6/13/24 when you use promo code LEAP.
  • Direct link to this deal

Key Terms

  • Expires at 12am Eastern time 2/29/24
  • Prices “start from” $29 per person per night, but are higher in many instances

Quick Thoughts

The cheapest days are weekdays. I found some dates where the Poconos location would be as cheap as $87 for a family of four before taxes & resort fee. Even with the fees, this comes to $138.42.

Compare that to Google Hotels, which found most OTAs are charging $262 with taxes & fees for the same night.

That’s a savings of about 47%.

Weekend rates are not nearly so cheap, but in my case I was able to find a weekday before a school conference day where the rate was reasonable enough for me to finally give Great Wolf Lodge a shot. I’ve looked at it several times before and not booked because of the outrageous prices, but this sale made it reasonable enough to try it out.

I should note that the Poconos location doesn’t get stellar reviews (the TripAdvisor reviews are particularly poor), but it worked out to be the right combination of price / drivableness. My kids will surely have a great time regardless.

In my case, I only booked a single night at Great Wolf Lodge because the hotel policy is that you can use the waterpark until close on the day of your checkout. We’ll therefore arrive in the evening and maybe have a chance for a little bit of water park, then spend at least half of the next day checking out the park before moving over to a second nearby resort (there are several indoor waterparks in the area and I figured I’d compare two of them). If you arrive early enough in the day on check-in day, you can basically get two days of water park time with one night of lodging. If you’re able to score that for a family of four for ~$139 all-in, that could be a win.

I’ve never been to a Great Wolf Lodge, but I expect high prices on-resort and we will plan accordingly (and if you take advantage of this deal, you should too!). Parking at the PA location is $14.99 per day, so I assume I’ll be on the hook for a day or two of that as well.

Unfortunately, this deal only has a couple of hours left, but I figured I’d still post it for those readers who see in time and can take advantage.

Thanks for the tip Nick. The deal actually runs through the end of today 3/1. Booked night before teacher workday like you. Cheers!

Andrew

Not sure if you prepay or not but some Chase cards have a 10% off Great Wolf Lodge offer that could stack.

Pan

Great catch, thank you!

I’ve been to GWL several times, their slides are good but small compared to outdoor water parks. I prefer visiting outdoor parks in summer and GWL in winter, its indoor and works best in cold weather, less crowded also.
