I just received an email from Thrifty Traveler Premium about great Alaska Airlines nonstop fares from its west coast gateways to Hawaii, with prices from $278 round trip. American Airlines is also running some excellent offers, with prices as low as $274 round trip with a long connection, and both Sun Country and United are getting in on the action from different cities as well. These deals are available April through June from a number of cities. While you may be better off with Southwest if you need to check bags (since they include two free checked bags), these fares are nonetheless quite good for a getaway to tropical paradise.

The Deal

  • Round trip fares to Hawaii from $274 round trip (with a stop) or $278 nonstop from several cities in the western United States

Quick Thoughts

As noted at the top, these fares are available April through June.

As an example, here’s Oakland to Hawaii from April 24 – May 1st, 2019.

These same flights are available via OTAs, which means they should also be available from most credit card travel portals. For example, here’s a look at the price in terms of Ultimate Rewards if you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve and can use points at a value of 1.5c per point.

As you can see, there are also flights available on American Airlines. Here’s Las Vegas to Hawaii from $275 on the same dates.

Good deals are also available from other cities and on other carriers. Here are a couple of examples:

While the United and Sun Country fares above do not come with overhead bin access, those with the right credit cards may be able to mitigate those costs, whether via airline incidental credits or by having and booking the United flight with a United credit card that provides a free checked bag.

Overall, solid prices for spring and early summer travel.
