This morning, Brant in our Frequent Miler Insiders Facebook Group posted what looked like a pretty good deal at 15K miles round trip to Hawaii. I just now had a chance to take a closer look and I see basic economy fares from Los Angeles and Seattle to Maui for just 9,000 SkyMiles round trip during many January / February and early March dates. Main cabin is available for 15K miles round trip. Both represent great deals for SkyMiles.

Yes, this is on Oahu, not Maui. It’s OK.

The Deal

  • Delta is offering awards to Maui, Hawaii from just 9,000 miles round trip (from Los Angeles to Maui

Quick Thoughts

Delta SkyMiles often get a bad rap as having low value, but this sale is a great example of terrific value for SkyMiles.

I see wide availability in January and February from Los Angeles to Maui for 9,000 SkyMiles round trip:

I see similar availability from Seattle for the same price:

The cheapest fares are basic economy, but even Main Cabin at 15K miles round trip is a pretty good use of SkyMiles:

As compared to cash fares, the basic economy awards above represent well over 2c per point, which is terrific for SkyMiles.

I saw awards starting around 15K from other West Coast cities and awards were also a decent value to Honolulu in some cases.

As is always the case with Delta flash sales, it is a good idea to hunt around and see what you find because there are always some unadvertised gems or other decent deals depending on dates and airports, so if you’re sitting on a lot of Delta SkyMiles and you have some free time this month or next, it’s time to go shopping. Just keep in mind that hotel prices in Hawaii have skyrocketed as of late, so you’ll want to hunt for your hotel deal at the same time.
