Quick Thoughts
We often see Amex Offers giving back up to 20% on certain car rental companies. In theory, it would seem like those Amex Offers would be better than a 10% Chase Offer, but that’s not necessarily the case for a couple of reasons.
For example, let’s say there was a Hertz Amex Offer giving $40 back when spending $200. If you spent just over $200, that’s great as it means you’d be earning close to 20% cashback. If that rental cost more than $400 though, this Chase Offer giving you 10% back would save you more seeing as the maximum cashback you can earn is $49.
Another possible benefit is insurance. My wife had this Hertz Chase Offer on her Sapphire Reserve card. That card offers primary rental insurance (which saved us almost $3,000 a few years ago), so having that protection on the same card as the Chase Offer is particularly useful. Well, it would be if we had any need to rent a car from Hertz at the moment (which we don’t), but hopefully this offer helps some of you out there.

My Reserve only had a 5% cashback, better than nothing.
