As part of Amex’s Member Week deals, a new Amex Offer appeared yesterday which is giving $40 back when spending $100 or more at any one of three eligible Hilton brands.

Quick Thoughts
We often see Amex Offers for various Hilton brands, most of which can save you up to 20% off a stay once you hit a certain spending threshold. This latest offer is potentially twice as good seeing as you get $40 back when spending $100 or more, although given the three hotel brands involved, there’s a good chance that even a one night stay will cost a fair bit more than $100.
Something that’s useful about Amex Offers such as these is that they’re eligible on both room rate and room charges. That means that if you book an award stay at a Hilton, Curio Collection or Canopy property and charge $100 or more to your room via food, drinks, spa treatments, etc., you’ll still get the $40 back.
If you have a P2 with this offer on one of their cards as well, you can ask the hotel to split a $200+ folio to put the payment on two cards in order to earn two $40 statement credits.

If we stay the 31st night at a Hilton would this credit apply?
It depends when payment is taken. If they charge your card on December 31 then it should. However, if you’re checking in on the 31st, they might not take payment until whenever you check out which means it wouldn’t trigger the Amex Offer.
This is just for stays in US?

Has anyone had success with this offer when paying at the hotel? The terms say you must reserve on the web site, but it also excludes advance purchase rates, so that makes no sense.
Stephen, I received this offer on my card and stayed at the Curio in Seattle and the Curio in Charleston. Both hotel receipts clearly show they are Curio Collection Hotels, but on my Amex statement they come up as independent hotels and not Curio/Hilton. I’ve received no credit from Amex and have tried to elevate this with no success. maybe you can look into this? Surely I am not the only one having this issue?
can I go to a Curio property and buy a $100 gift card?
If they sell Hilton gift cards and payment is processed by the front desk, I suspect that’ll work. However, I’ve not heard of it being common – if even possible – to buy gift cards at Hilton properties.
