Quick Thoughts
If you were planning a paid stay pretty much anywhere south of the border over the winter, this targeted Amex Offer is a good way to save up to 20% on your cost. It includes most Hilton locations between Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.
For these properties, it’s important to ensure that your bill will come to $750 or more after currency conversion…pay special attention in countries where the exchange rate is particularly volatile. Something that’s just above $750 today may not still be in March.
Oh no, I booked non refunded rate room, will Amex truly know and not give me credit?
Each instance is unique but yes there is a real risk of that. Hilton shares enough information with AMEX that “advance purchase” often comes through in the transaction details so they can exclude it.
I rolled the dice on this with an LAX airport stay purchased last year – the quarterly $50 Hilton Surpass credit worked fine with advanced purchase rate, but the AMEX offer which stated it excludes advance purchase rates never triggered.
Thank you Andrew. I may change to Aspire card instead. Hilton has double points promotions on Q1 stay. The $750 charges can earn 20*750=15000 points. Not as good as $150, but it’s guaranteed.
Interesting that the newly opened Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All Inclusive is NOT included on this list of participating properties.
I imagine this should stack with the 200 off 1000 Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, & LXR if used at pedregal los cabos. I have both offers on my platinum.
I generally don’t stay at such fancy places but it could be a good opportunity to use my fnc and my $50 surpass credit.
Yes, if you have both offers on the same card, they should stack.
I pre-paid $1000 of incidentals for a January Zemi Beach House stay a few days ago on my Platinum. Just got the notification today that both offers triggered (the $200 off $1000 offer for Waldorf/Conrad/LXR in US/Mexico/FPolynesia/Anguilla, and this $150 off $750 offer).
Side note: going to be a pretty great value stay. Using 5 FNCs + 5 nights “for the price of 4” on points + $350 off in Amex Offers + potentially up to $900 off in my own and P2’s Aspire Resort Credits (if I can manage to pre-pay 2x$250 more somehow, then use the Aspires to pay 2x$200 once again when at the resort)
I’m planning on stacking the two credits for a stay at Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya. I’ll prepay $1000, but how do I go about this? Is it only for incidentals or the room rate as well?
