“Preferred Hotels” is a collection of boutique-style hotels that can be a little more unique than your standard points-bookable hotel. And luckily, some of them can be booked with points! Some can be booked with Preferred Hotels’ own points (I Prefer points), and some can be booked with Choice points, or some can be booked with both. In this video, we’ll show you how to find and book Preferred Hotels with I Prefer points as well as Choice points.
How To Book Preferred Hotels with Points (Video)
(01:30) – Our resource for finding and booking Preferred Hotels with points includes an interactive map for where points-bookable Preferred Hotels exist, and how they rank in terms of cent per point value.
(04:45) – We’ll show an example of how you might use this map to research your options in San Francisco. When you select an option, you’ll see many helpful details, including which points options are available to you (I Prefer or Choice) and an idea of the price.
(09:20) – Once you’ve found a potential hotel, it’s important to then search the actual Choice or I Prefer search tools to see if the hotel has the availability you’re looking for.
(10:16) – We’ll show you how you might go to the I Prefer search tool to find the hotel’s actual award availability. (Make sure to click all the way through to confirm before you transfer your Citi ThankYou points to I Prefer.)
(13:59) – If you don’t find the availability you need and you already know that the hotel is bookable with both I Prefer and Choice points (thanks to the information you found on our map) you may find better or at least different availability with Choice.
(14:25) – Navigating to the search page works a little differently with the Choice Privileges page for booking Preferred Hotels, but much of the rest of the process is the same.
(15:53) – Our resource for finding and booking Preferred Hotels with points also has a filterable table which you can also use to explore the different points-bookable Preferred Hotel options.
