We’ve written a number of times in the past about how it’s been possible to stack offers to make a profit when taking out a Sam’s Club membership (e.g. here, here and here). There’s currently a potentially great opportunity to stack offers for a different warehouse club – BJ’s. I say potentially because there’s no guarantee that these two offers will stack, but if they do it means you can get an Inner Circle membership for $5 or a Perks Rewards membership for $25.
The Deal
- Get BJ’s Inner Circle membership for $25 or Perks Rewards membership for $65.
- Direct link to BJ’s membership offer (click the check box to select the Perks Rewards membership).
- Earn $20 cashback in the Dosh app when getting a BJ’s Inner Circle membership & paying with a card linked in the app, or $40 cashback when getting a Perks Rewards membership.
- Direct link to download Dosh app (my referral link).
- Direct link to download Dosh app (Nick’s referral link).
Key Terms
- Dosh offer – one time only.
Quick Thoughts
The $25 Inner Circle membership offer is a decent deal in and of itself seeing as it usually costs $55. Groupon sometimes offers a similar deal with additional coupons that can be used in-club, but I don’t think that’s available right now.
The way to possibly stack the deal is by paying with a card that’s linked in the Dosh app as that’s currently offering $20 cashback when buying an Inner Circle membership or $40 when buying a Perks Rewards membership. That $20/$40 cashback takes their net costs down to $5 and $25 respectively which is fantastic seeing as the memberships normally cost $55 and $110 respectively. Perks Rewards members earn 2% rewards on most purchases at BJ’s, so spending $1,000+ a year in-club would make that membership more worthwhile than an Inner Circle one if these offers do stack.
There’s no guarantee that these offers will stack though. With Sam’s Club membership offers, one of the ways to stack usually involves an Amex Offer where you get $20 or $25 back when spending $45, so if a Sam’s Club membership cost less than $45, it wouldn’t trigger the Amex Offer.
It’s not clear whether or not a similar factor will come into play with this BJ’s offer. If the Dosh cashback is only triggered when spending exactly $55 or $110, the two offers won’t stack. If, however, the Dosh cashback is triggered simply by a BJ’s charge which is somehow tracked as a membership purchase, the offers would stack. Due to the uncertainty regarding this, it’d be best to go into this only if you’re happy paying $25 for an Inner Circle membership or $65 for a Perks Rewards membership. That way, any cashback you earn for Dosh is simply a nice bonus on top, rather than being required in order to make it worthwhile.
If anyone ends up doing this deal, please let us know in the comments below if it tracks with Dosh. I think Dosh sometimes takes a few days to report purchases, so if you don’t get notification immediately about earning cashback, it doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t get it.
i tried to do this deal. dosh added additional language to the offer that states the membership must be purchased at full price. they’re denying my missing cashback claim even though when i purchased the membership it didn’t have the language. scummy but pretty typical of dosh IME. other DPs would be appreciated.
Thank you for posting.
Dosh has been a pia, consistently. Balance remains at $20, and anything beyond keeps getting clawed back.
FWIW – I am not seeing any language in the details stating must be full price. Totally believe you, and expect the trigger would be the $55.00 at BJ, not ‘new membership at BJ’ billed to linked card.
It does state it beds to be an online purchase (so paying in store wouldn’t trigger.
is this deal gone
No, it still seems to be available.
