As reported by Doctor of Credit yesterday, there is an offer out for the Chase Hyatt Credit Card that includes the usual bonuses plus a $50 statement credit after first purchase.
The Deal
- 2 free nights at any Hyatt hotel worldwide after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months
- 5,000 bonus points after adding an authorized user and having them make their first purchase (unadvertised, but Doctor of Credit reports that it will earn these points)
- $50 statement credit after first purchase
Key details
- $75 annual fee is not waived
- Free night certificate at a Category 1-4 property each card member anniversary
- Note that Globalist suite upgrades and Explorist Club Upgrade awards can not be applied to free night certificates (such as the signup bonus nights or the annual night)
- Card comes with Discoverist status
- This card is believed not to be subject to the Chase 5/24 rule
- You are not eligible if you’ve received a bonus on this card in the past 24 months.
Quick Thoughts
Everyone likes an extra fifty bucks. The usual 2 free nights on this card can be an incredibly valuable offer depending on how you use the two free nights — and the bonus 5K for adding an authorized user is even enough for another free night at a Category 1 hotel. Note that we have added the direct link to our Best Offers page. If the direct link doesn’t work, try initiating a dummy booking at Hyatt.com and you should see this offer at the step where you would enter payment information. Also note that Explorist members can not use Club Upgrade certificates in conjunction with the signup bonus nights or the annual free night. Globalists similarly can not use a suite upgrade award in conjunction with these free nights. However, they can still be incredibly valuable nights — and if you are a Globalist member, I would expect that you would still receive lounge access/breakfast when staying on a certificate (these nights simply can not be upgraded using other types of awards).
I got the 2 free nights for the 2k min spend. I added an authorized user but the points for that haven’t posted yet. I was told the $50 statement credit wasn’t part of my deal.
Are the 2 free nights for meeting spend restricted in any way whatsoever? Are you guaranteed the same access as someone paying cash to any Hyatt property (and do these 2 free nights ever expire?)
You have the same access as someone booking an award night, which is not the same as same access as someone paying a cash rate (award nights are based on a “standard” room being available, but a hotel may be sold out of those for your dates). You would just have to see if there are award nights available on points. If you can book an award night on points, you should be able to use your certificates. And yes, they expire — 1 year from when they are issued. You must use them within a year. If they expire without being used, some people have had success in converting the 2 free nights from the signup bonus into points (differing amounts depending on your status with Hyatt). Note that this has only worked with the 2 free nights from the signup bonus, not the annual cat 1-4 certificate.
I stayed in one of those GH Singapore suites back in October with a DSU. We were only there for three nights but man was it an awesome room. Didn’t requalify for Globalist this year but I’m crossing my fingers that work travel will put me over the edge for 2018 when we plan to be back in Singapore.
Nice pic of the Grand Hyatt Singapore duplex suite! Talk about getting value out of a DSU/TSU certificate.
Thanks! Agreed. It was a huge room. As long as you don’t mind stairs.
Definitely not apart of Chase 5/24 rule. I have about 20 cards within last 2 years and I was approved for this offer yesterday.
I recently booked a two night stay using one points award night + one free Chase night from the card. The rep was able to combine and use a club upgrade on the combined reservation. I stayed last week and it did stick. Worth trying, as always YMMV.
Thanks, was wondering how to work that!
This is what I would try as well — but in the post I wanted to make it clear that this won’t necessarily work (since the terms state that you can’t do it). I’ve read about people having success with your method — though I’ve also read about people who were told that the club upgrade was applied and then arrived and it wasn’t — so YMMV, but what you did id the best way to try.
