Hyatt is currently offering 10% off Hyatt gift cards for Gold Passport members. Since it is free to join their program, that makes this deal available to everyone.
To get the discount, go to certificates.hyatt.com and enter promo code GPGIFT14 during checkout.
Currently, only by-mail certificates are available at a discount, but e-gift cards with free shipping are expected to become available mid November.
Please see certificates.hyatt.com for details and terms associated with gift cards and gift certificates.
Increased savings with Amex business cards (OPEN Savings)
I don’t yet have confirmation of this for the current promotion, but in the past, purchases of Hyatt gift cards have been eligible for Amex OPEN automatic statement credits. Amex offers small-business cardholders automatic rebates with certain vendors and that includes Hyatt. That means that you can save an additional 5% by paying with an Amex small business card. Details here.
Increased savings with Amex Simply Cash
If you have the Amex Simply Cash card and chose hotels as your 3% category, you can earn both the 5% OPEN Savings and 3% cash back from this card. NOTE: see warning about this in the comments.

on the hyatt card, do you still get 3 points for the purchase?
I expect so
I don’t have an Amex Business card (one day). Can I substitute the Discover IT card since it’s running 5% cash back right now for online purchases?
Maybe. I don’t know whether or not this will qualify as an online purchase. That said, Discover is good about adjusting the cash back if you call it in after the fact.
This is how it shows up on americanexpress.com

So I don’t think it’ll count for the 3% hotels (this is what I have it set to)
Supposedly, gift cards are valid in the U.S., but the rest of the Hyatts use paper certificates. Also, it looks like the Diamond Challenge may be over, which would make the offer less appealing.
It does say that gift cards are valid only in the US, but gift checks are valid globally.
My bad not for egift cards yet.
I can’t seem to find anywhere to put in the code. Don’t want to hit “submit” first!
On the first checkout screen, scroll down and you’ll see a box titled “Promotional Code:” (its under “Additional Information”)
how long do these usually take to ship? Trying to figure out if i’d get them before I leave next Friday…
In my experience they are delivered very quickly (in less than a week), but I can’t guarantee anything.
I was going to buy some, but then I see that they’re not good for Asia.
Careful here. Last time I bought GCs at 10% off (about 4 months ago) via my Milepoint premium membership and paid with my Simply Cash Amex I received the 5% Open Savings, but I did NOT get the 3% hotels cashback. I only received 1%. I wrote to Amex and received an SM response saying that GCs do not qualify for 3%. The fineprint clearly says it, and my 1% applied automatically instead of 3%, so it looks like they may have patched this up. YMMV.
Thanks for that warning!
Thanks for this. If MP3 includes Hyatt GCs again, I’ll probably dump this card, since this was the only reason I got it really.
can you combine these gift cards with amex open and ebates to get 17.5% each stay?
Yes, but it will add up to a bit less than 17.5% off since the OPEN 5% rebate is based on 90% of the value. So, the total would be about 17% off.
care to elaborate? I only see 2.5% CB for Hyatt at ebates…?
1. Buy gift cards at a discount
2. When booking Hyatt stays, go through a cash back portal
The two options above stack together as long as you pay for your stay with the Hyatt gift cards that you bought at a discount.
Thanks!
Expiration date of offer?
how can we verify that this qualifies for 5% off from Open?
Is there someone we can call, etc?
