(EXPIRED) IHG 2x Unlimited Promo: Earn double base points for every stay in January

IHG One Rewards has opened registration for a new promotion that’s giving double base points for every stay at any IHG property between January 1st and 31st, 2024. In addition, members will be awarded 2,000 bonus points for staying at a minimum of two different brands.

• To participate in the “2X Unlimited” Promotion (the “Promotion”), an individual must have an active, valid IHG One Rewards member account and must register for the Promotion.
• Members can pre-register for this Promotion starting December 20, 2023 through December 31, 2023 (the “Pre-Registration Period”).
• Members will be able to stay and earn IHG One Rewards bonus points under this Promotion beginning January 1, 2024 and ending on January 31, 2024 (the “Promotion Period”).
• Members who did not register during the Pre-Registration Period may register for the Promotion during the Promotion Period. A member can only register once.
• IHG One Rewards members in the United States who registered for the current IHG One Rewards “2X Unlimited” promotion have been automatically registered for this additional promotional offer (the “2K Brand Offer”). Under this Offer, an additional 2,000 IHG One Rewards bonus points will be awarded to members who stay at 2 or more IHG brands during the promotion period.
• After registering for the Promotion, a member can earn 2X points on qualifying room nights during the Promotion Period.
• To be a qualifying room night under the Promotion, the room night must fall within the Promotion Period and must be part of a Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay.  As stated, the “Promotion Period” is from January 1, 2024 through January 31, 2024.
• Room nights outside of the Promotion Period are not included, and room nights that are part of a stay that was completed prior to registration for the Promotion also are not included.
• For purposes of this Promotion, a “Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay” is defined as a minimum one (1) night stay at a participating hotel booked under a Qualifying Rate, with total spend exceeding US $30 (or local currency equivalent) for each night. Stays booked using Rewards Nights or Points & Cash are not Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stays for purposes of this Promotion.
• The time needed for awarding points can vary with each promotion, so please allow up to 6 weeks for any earned bonus points to be posted to the recipient’s account.
• For the 2X Unlimited Promotion, earning “2X” or “2X points” on stays through January 31, 2024 means the total number of regular “base points” and promotional “bonus points” combined will equal two (2) times the base points the member would normally receive just for being an IHG One Rewards member. For example, under the 2X Unlimited Promotion, for a one-night Qualifying Stay with a room rate of $100.00 at an IHG hotel with a 10 points per USD earn rate for base points, the member would earn 1,000 base points (10 points x $100 = 1,000 points) and an additional 1,000 promotional bonus points, for a total of 2,000 points.
• The promotional bonus points under this Promotion are calculated based solely on the base points the member is eligible to earn for a Qualifying Stay just for being an IHG One Rewards member, and any Elite status bonus points or any other bonus or promotional points the member may be eligible to receive for the same stay are not included.
• The additional 2,000 bonus points earned under the “2K Brand Offer” will be deposited after a member stays at 2 or more brands. The stays must be at different IHG brands in order to count towards the “2K Brand Offer” and can only be won once during the promotional period for a total of 2,000 points.

Quick Thoughts

Base points are the only thing that’s doubled during this promotion. This is normally 10x at most properties, so the promo doubles it to 20x. Our Reasonable Redemption Values for IHG One Rewards points is .63 cents each, so earning 20x points per dollar is an effective return of ~12.6%, plus any elite bonuses that you might earn in addition to base points. That could be a decent deal, especially if you already have paid travel planned at IHG properties during January.

Note that this promotion is only valid on paid stays, not stays booked using points and/or Points & Cash. Because of that, be sure to click through to IHG from a shopping portal to earn cashback/rewards.
