There are new Chase Offers for several different IHG brands that are giving 5% or 10% back as statement credits when spending $100+. Even better, I found several of these on one of my IHG cards which means it stacks with the 10x earnings on that card.

IHG Chase Offers

The Deal

  • Earn 5% or 10% back when spending $100+ at specific IHG brands with targeted Chase Offers.

Key Terms

  • Expire August 14 or August 16, 2024 depending on the brand.
  • 5% offer – limit $31 back.
  • 10% offer – limit $57 back.
  • Offers valid one time only.

Quick Thoughts

I found offers giving 5% back on my IHG Premier card for the following brands:

  • Candlewood Suites
  • Holiday Inn Express
  • Holiday Inn
  • Hotel Indigo
  • Staybridge Suites

With a limit of $31 back, those offers would be maxed out when spending $620.

I subsequently found a Holiday Inn Chase Offer giving 10% back on up to $570 spend on my Chase Sapphire Preferred card, so I suspect other people might see 10% offers for other IHG brands on their cards.

If you find your cards targeted in a similar way to me, it’s worth doing the math to decide which is your best option. While I’d only earn 5% back if paying for a Holiday Inn stay with my IHG Premier card, I’d also earn 10x IHG One Rewards points per dollar. With the Holiday Inn offer giving 10% back, I’d be earning 2x Ultimate Rewards per dollar.

If you’re someone who’s trying to put enough spend on their IHG card to earn one or more of the big spend bonuses available on that card, using that card might make the most sense. Otherwise, it’d likely make more sense for most people to pick the 10% option. That’s because the extra 5% cashback you’d earn could be used to buy IHG points when they’re on sale for 0.5cpp (cents per point), effectively turning those 5% earnings into a 10x IHG earning rate in addition to the 2x Ultimate Rewards points.

In case that’s not making sense, here’s how the calculations work for a $500 stay:

Option 1 – 5% offer on IHG card

  • 5% back = $25 statement credit
  • $500 * 10x IHG points = 5,000 IHG points

Option 2 – 10% offer on Sapphire Reserve card

  • 10% back = $50 statement credit
  • $500 * 2x Ultimate Rewards points = 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points

Use $25 of the $50 statement credit to buy 5,000 IHG points when on sale and you end up with:

  • $25
  • 5,000 IHG points
  • 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points

As you can see, the latter option gets you the same cashback and IHG points, but with 1,000 Ultimate Rewards thrown in. All this depends on which offers you’re targeted for and which cards you find them on though.

In the past, didn’t Chase sell 1000 UR points for $25, which is the same as 5000 IHG points (IHG routinelly sells each point for 0.5 cent when purchasing a certain minimum)?
