Quick Thoughts

I believe this is the highest offer we’ve seen in recent years on the Platinum SkyMiles Business credit card in particular, so that offer is especially appealing — it’s just not common to see an airline credit card offering 80,000 miles (though of course miles are not all created equally). Keep in mind that these offers are still subject to the Amex lifetime rule. That is to say that you will not be eligible for a new cardmember welcome bonus on a card that you have or have had in the past, whether or not you previously received a welcome bonus on it. That rule only precludes you from getting the welcome bonus on the same card again. For example, if you had the Gold Delta SkyMiles business credit card and closed it 4 years ago, you are not eligible for a new cardmember bonus on the Gold Delta SkyMiles business card again. However, if you have never had the Platinum Delta SkyMiles card before, you would be eligible to receive a new cardmember bonus on that card.

While Delta SkyMiles have long been chided as worthless due to the fact that they eliminated award charts and often charge exorbitant rates for awards on Delta flights, they have also run some very good flash sales over the past year and still have some solid partners. There are still plenty of situations where SkyMiles would have a poor value proposition, but if you’re able to cherry pick your redemptions, you could do OK with these offers.

I received the gold bus card about two months ago with the lower bonus. Any chance I could get AmEx to match the new offer??

Marshall

CN you self refer from a delta gold business card?

Marshall

Nick, when I go to the referral info after checking in, the only option I am seeing is a Plat card referral. No Delta referral. I have a Delta gold business card. So, what do I need to do,to get the referral link for the Delta Plat business card.

TIA

P.S. Headline on the Boarding Area home page still says “inceased.”

Upgraded from gold to plat on phone last month for 80k/$2k spend, $195 AF.
DL award ticket with 5.60 ticket fee triggered $100 credit.
YMMV

Marshall

Did they offer you the 80k or did you tell them you wanted to cancel the gold and then they offered?
