Quick Thoughts

The previous offers on all three cards were $300 after $3,000 in spend, so these new versions essentially add an additional $200 for spending $2k more.

Each card provides a slightly different earning structure. The Unlimited Cash Rewards and Travel Rewards cards give you 1.5% back everywhere; the Travel Rewards card adds the additional carrot of 3% back when booking travel through the BOA Travel Center (please hold down your celebratory cries). The catch with the Travel Rewards card is that you can only redeem your points for statement credits towards travel or dining purchases.

I have the Customized Cash Rewards card, because it gives 3% back per year on up to $50k in purchases in a category of your choice (gas stations and EV charging stations (default), office supply stores, travel, TV/telecom & wireless, computer services or business consulting services) and you can change that category monthly to correspond with your spending.

Folks who have Business Preferred Rewards with Bank of America will add up to 75% on all of these earning rates. BOA recently announced that personal Preferred Rewards will be slowly nerfed over the next year or so, but we’ve heard no such announcement about the business side…yet.

In and of themselves, none of these cards is terribly inspiring. However, the ability to earn between 11.5% – 13% on $5k in spend with a no-annual-fee card that doesn’t affect your Chase 5/24 status will be tempting for some folks (including me).
