Alaska Atmos credit cards: earn 80K-100K bonus points + a 50% off discount code

7

Update: Alaska and Bank of America have sweetened the welcome offers on both consumer cards further, adding a discount code good for 50% off a future flight. The good news is that the discount code is awarded within 10 days of approval with no spending required.

The bad news is that it’s only good for economy flights between September 8th and November 18th, and has an amazing amalgamation of destination-based restrictions:

  • Valid on flights departing to Hawaii, Florida, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Belize, and Mexico on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays only, and for flights departing from these destinations on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays only.
  • For all other eligible markets, the discount code is valid for flights departing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays only.

I (Tim) guess it’s still better than nothing, but given that it’s barely valid for two months, it would be nice to see it be a teentsy-weentsy bit more flexible.

Quick Thoughts

These higher-than-standard welcome offers have come and gone several times since the cards were launched last year. It’s always good to see them return, but there’s no guarantee that this’ll continue happening on an ongoing basis, so if you’ve been considering applying for one of these cards, now seems to be a great opportunity seeing as the welcome offers have increased.

On the Atmos Ascent and Atmos Business cards, in addition to earning bonus points, you’ll also earn a Companion fare that can be redeemed for someone traveling with you for a $99 fare + taxes. The Atmos Summit card, meanwhile, has the highest welcome offer of all three cards with 100,000 bonus points available, plus a 25,000-point Global Companion fare.

I went all in on the new Atmos program, made the $60K spend on 2 cards for 100K certs and the 25K certs and oodles of miles. Awards to Europe were great. .

Today – nothing at all on partners that has any value. Sure I can fly coast to coast, but how would I get any value from the 100K certificate?

Either something is very wrong or it was just a scam.

Any comments?

John

Can you get all 3 cards?
Got approved for Summit

Glen

so, for someone who just got the card and missed the new offering by days you are SOL – bummer

tom

I believe there is also a version of this offer + a 50% flight coupon

Thanks for this article- I had the business card from Jan 2022 to Feb 2025, and looks like I’d be eligble again (as business card appears to be exempt from 24 month wait)- if anyone has any data points, I’d appreciate that. Have a great day!

I’ve been able to get the SUBs on both the Ascent and Business cards while already having those cards open, including earlier this year with the Business card.

I have both personal and business checking accounts with BoA and that may have helped.

FYI for context, the DoC insider who tipped off to these ahead of time advised that they’ll be available for “2-3 months.” No specific end date and I’d guess based on that, that it’s dependent on number of new cardmember acquisitions.
