In combing through deals today, I came across one that caught my eye as potentially useful for those who suddenly find themselves working from home for the first time: a deal on refurbished Jabra Elite 65t True Wireless Earbuds. As someone who has worked from home for more than a decade, I thought this deal might make sense for those of you at home trying to be productive while having a house full of distractions.

Quick Thoughts

Obviously many people are looking to cut costs rather than spend on frivolous stuff right now, but others are simply trying to balance out how to work from home productively in a household with a family that may not be used to being confined to the house together while also being productive.

I’ve worked from home for more than a decade at this point and having now done so with a son for the past 2+ years, I can say that headphones are a key to productivity for me. I prefer over-the-ear headphones as they are more comfortable and block out all distractions, but I’ve migrated to using true wireless earbuds both because it’s nice not having something on my head and because I want to block out most noise and be able to focus while also being able to hear those shouts for assistance that I need to be able to hear. Anyone who has parented a toddler with a partner knows that sometimes you need backup and I want to be able to hear that while being able to block out storytime and truck sounds so that I can add something to a spreadsheet or test something I’m working on for a morning post without distraction.

To that end, I’ve been using a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds for the past few months. While I can’t wear them for hours on end like my over-the-ear headphones, I can comfortably wear them for a couple of hours and focus much better while still being able to hear enough ambient noise to be helpful when my wife or son needs it. A friend of mine has this Jabra pair and loves them, so I imagine I’d have been as happy with these as I am with my Galaxy Buds. I have to say that I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the audio quality of my Galaxy Buds — they are much better than the no-name-brand bluetooth headphones or the LG Tones I used to use for running back in 2015/2016. Again, though I obviously can’t vouch for them myself, I would expect the Jabra set to be on par.

While this set is refurbished, it looks like they are manufacturer-refurbished, which in my experience is usually the way you want to buy refurbished equipment. I’ve bought plenty of factory-refurbished electronics over the years — cameras, stereo receivers, phones, etc, and when refurbished by the manufacturer it usually works well in my experience. YMMV.

All right, I’m in for one pair.
