JetBlue TrueBlue added as a Wells Fargo partner on a 1:1 basis

Wells Fargo surprised us last year when they launched the Autograph Journey card with an unexpected new feature – the ability to transfer points to a selection of travel partners. That selection wasn’t the most broad as it only consisted of six partners, but it was better than the zero transfer partners they had prior to that.

When launching the Autograph Journey card, Wells Fargo intimated that they’d be steadily adding more partners. That happened about six months later when they added Virgin Atlantic as an additional partner, but it’s been all quiet on that front ever since.

Well, that is until yesterday. That’s because Wells Fargo has added the JetBlue TrueBlue program as another transfer partner.

Wells Fargo JetBlue TrueBlue

A pleasant surprise is that Wells Fargo points transfer to JetBlue on a 1:1 basis. Both Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi ThankYou transfer to JetBlue on a 1:1 basis, so this certainly wasn’t out of the realms of possibility. However, American Express Membership Rewards has long transferred to JetBlue on an inferior 250:200 basis, plus Amex charges an excise fee for those transfers. Meanwhile, the most recent transferable currency that added JetBlue TrueBlue as a transfer partner – Capital One miles – did so at an even worse transfer ratio of 1,000:600.

Another great feature of this new partnership is that there’s no minimum transfer amount, nor do you have to transfer in 1,000 point increments. Need to top up your TrueBlue account with, say, 78 points for an award flight? That’s all you need to transfer over.

It would be nice to see Wells Fargo add some transfer partners that are less common, rather than the promiscuous partners they have at the moment. That said, it does mean that those who have transferable Wells Fargo points can allocate their other transferable currencies to more valuable/unique partners.

The addition of JetBlue means that this is the new list of Wells Fargo transfer partners:

  • Airlines
    • Aer Lingus AerClub Avios
    • Air France/KLM Flying Blue
    • Avianca LifeMiles
    • British Airways Executive Club Avios
    • Iberia Plus Avios
    • JetBlue TrueBlue
    • Virgin Atlantic/Virgin Red
  • Hotels
    • Choice Privileges

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

Wells Fargo gets no love from the FM team. 🙁

I’ll echo someone and suggest WF now turn its sights on a few ultra premium airlines.
