Alaska Airlines is offering an incentive for people to join its Atmos Rewards loyalty program. If you join before the end of the year, you’ll receive a discount code giving $25 or $50 (depending on which state you live in) off your next flight provided you book within 28 days of joining the program.

The Deal

Quick Thoughts
Many readers will already have an Atmos Rewards account, either because they’ve opened one in the last few months, or because they had an Alaska Airlines and/or Hawaiian Airlines loyalty program account when those became Atmos Rewards. However, I suspect that there’s a not-insignificant number who don’t. For the latter, getting $25 or $50 off an Alaska Airlines flight could be a decent enough incentive to get them to enroll.
Be aware of the limitations of this offer though. If you’re about to book a flight, you won’t be able to use the promo code as that’s not due to be issued until three days after registering. You then have to use the code within your first 28 days of membership for a flight within 120 days.
Be sure to register using the applicable link depending on which state you live in. For those who live in California or Hawaii, you’ll get $50 off. For those who live in every other state (other than Alaska), you’ll get $25 off. For those who live in Alaska, I’m afraid you’re out of luck.

This promo was scheduled to end last year, but glad to see Alaska renewed the promo for another year. I’m trying to create an Atmos Rewards account for my 5 month old daughter, but the website won’t let you create an account for someone younger than 16 years old. You will need to call Atmos Rewards and have them create the account for you. Ideally, I need to wait 3-4 days before I want to book a trip, so that I can use the $50 discount 🙂
$25 is a pathetic incentive!!!
It’s certainly not a huge incentive, but loyalty programs usually don’t offer any signup incentive at all for joining, so $25 (or $50 for California and Hawaii residents) is better than would normally be expected.
not as bad as not extended this to current members, IMHO
[…] Alaska Mileage Plan is one of my all around favorite frequent flyer programs. It’s fairly rare to see a program offer a lucrative promotion for people to join, but that’s exactly what Mileage Plan is offering right now, as flagged by Frequent Miler. […]
I think CA and Hawaii residents have a different promotion worth $50.

Thanks for the heads up about that one – I’ve just added that to the post.
