There are a couple of new targeted offers out today that are good for $50 back when you spend $250 or more — one offer is for JW Marriott and/or W Hotels by 10/31/23. If you have an upcoming stay at a JW Marriott or W Hotel or if you’ll be passing one by and you can spare a moment to walk in and buy a gift card, it is worth taking a few seconds to log in to your Chase accounts to see if you are targeted.
The Deal
- A new targeted Chase Offer is out that’s good for $50 back on $250 or more at JW Marriott or W Hotels through 10/31/23
Key Terms
- Expires 10/31/23
- Valid one time only
- JW Marriott offer is only valid at JW Marriott properties. W Hotels offer is only valid at W Hotels
Quick Thoughts
These offers are obviously solid if you have plans to stay at either of these brands. If you don’t have plans for a stay within the short qualifying time-frame, a gift card purchase made at the front desk of a hotel in a qualifying brand should work. Note that the JW Marriott offer will only work at JW Marriott properties and the W Hotels offer will only work at W properties and not all properties sell gift cards. Even if you find a hotel that does sell gift cards, it can sometimes be difficult finding an employee who knows how to sell a gift card. However, it is indeed possible to thread the needle on that and lock in the discount for a future use provided that you make your charge at the front desk within the qualifying time frame. Marriott gift cards are accepted at all brands worldwide (even if the gift card has a specific brand brand like JW Marriott printed on it, that card will work anywhere), though also be aware that many employees won’t know how to accept a gift card, so I always stop by the front desk hours before checkout to give them plenty of time to figure it out.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I read somewhere that the Marriott gift cards cannot be used in combination with a discount code.
No, that’s not correct. You can’t use a gift card online to reserve your room, so they can’t be used on prepaid rates, but you can otherwise use them to pay your bill at the front desk no matter how you booked your postpaid rate or what kind of discount code you used. Note that many (probably *most*) Marriott employees don’t know how to redeem gift cards, so I always recommend stopping by the front desk at least several hours before checkout to say that you’d like to pay with a gift card. You’ll have presented a credit card at check-in, but they can apply the gift card balance to the bill.
The cards work worldwide. I’ve used them across the U.S. and in many foreign countries (including Bora Bora, the Maldives, Malta, and more).
