Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is happening now! Follow us as Greg, Nick, and Stephen compete to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines before November 23rd. Who will complete the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?
This week at Frequent Miler, we looked at why it might not make sense to make your move on the Bonvoy spending bonuses, what happens when you cancel an old travel package, comparing cash back cards, and more.
My experience changing a Marriott Travel Package
Last summer, we made a number of guesses about the future of Marriott Travel Packages. Unfortunately, most of them turned out to be wrong. Still, there were opportunities for small wins in booking hotels that were going up in category. But what happens if you booked a hotel before the merger that has since jumped up in category and then you cancel your reservation? Does your certificate keep the new higher category? Greg tested it out to save you from wondering for long.
Which is the best cash back credit card?
Spoiler alert: It’s impossible to pick one. Do you want the best welcome bonus? The best bonus categories? A bonus that requires little ongoing spend? The cash back card getting the most love in my wallet is the Alliant Cashback Visa, but it may have to move over soon to make way for the Altitude Reserve. What’s your top pic?
On my mind (Marriott spend bonus edition)
The new spend bonuses on former SPG cards make it a no brainer to spend heavy on those cards, right? Not so fast — in this post, Greg explains why it may not be worthwhile to go after these bonuses after all. And don’t feel bad if you don’t seem to be targeted. You’re not the only one.
8 Lessons learned from 1+ month on the road with a baby
After nearly a month and a half away from home with a baby in tow, we’re ready for the next trip. After leaving our son with friends for a few hours last night, I’m pretty sure we have to be ready to bring him everywhere we go because it doesn’t sound like he’s going to put up with us leaving him behind :-). But let there be no doubt: we’re not very good at traveling with a baby. See this post for things I learned and what we need to improve by the next trip.
Last call to book ultra luxe Marriott hotels at 60K per night
Marriott hotels go up in price in a couple of days. At the top end, some hotels that are currently bookable for 60K per night will suddenly cost 100K during peak periods. Book now to lock in the cost if you’re looking for top-end luxury without the inflated price tag.
That’s it for this week at Frequent Miler. Check back soon for this week around the web and our last chance deals.
