We’ve seen numerous airline status match opportunities over the last couple of years and there’s another one available now from LATAM. The appeal of this status match will be limited due to its usefulness or lack thereof, but it could be a good way to get access to Delta benefits and might provide the opportunity to status match elsewhere in the future.
The Deal
- Match your airline status from one of over 60 eligible airlines to LATAM Pass:
- If your request is approved, you will receive the corresponding frequent flyer status in the LATAM Pass program within six business days, valid until 03/31/2025
- The fee for US and Canada residents to apply is $80
- Full FAQ here
Key Terms
- Approved participants will receive the equivalent status they have with one of the frequent flyer programs of the airlines that apply according to the geographic condition reported (excluding the Black Signature category).
- If your request is approved, you will receive the corresponding frequent flyer status in the LATAM Pass program within six business days, valid until 03/31/2025
- The application and processing fee for USA residents is USD $80.00.
Quick Thoughts
LATAM used to be a oneworld alliance member, but left a couple of years ago following Delta’s investment in the airline. As a result, having status in the LATAM Pass program will provide limited benefits unless you’re planning on flying frequently with LATAM. An exception is with Delta itself. It will enable you to access Delta Sky Clubs when flying internationally on Delta (but if you have any kind of personal or business Amex Platinum card you already have that eligibility) and there are some additional benefits with Delta as listed below:
One other way that taking advantage of this status match could come in handy is that it might give you a way to extend having some kind of airline status in order to then be able to match your LATAM status with another airline in the future.
For example, Southwest sometimes awards limited-time A-List or A-List Preferred status to certain Rapid Rewards members based on qualifying activity. If that’s something you currently have and it’s due to expire soon, matching that now to LATAM might give you a way to match elsewhere at some point in the next seven month year or so.
If you’re a Companion Pass cardholder, you’ll get matched LATAM’s Black elite tier. That’s the same level that American Airlines Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum and Concierge Key members get matched to, so if other airlines match to LATAM as generously in the future, you could be on to a winner.
There is a $80 fee to submit a status match request, so that’ll be off-putting to some. However, if you end up gaining any kind of benefit by matching to LATAM, that could be worth the investment.

Are there any data points for getting this match through elevated AA status through the recent AA Instant Status Pass promotion?
Yes I got matched to black from plat pro
“Additional information is required to process your Status Match application.
Please submit a different screenshot , which clearly shows your first name, last name, tier status and member number”.
Kept getting same request in email. Already uploaded twice different screenshots cut by snippet with all the info. Puzzled what format they need.
This is great! Thank you Stephen. I finally lost my Delta status and it would be nice to be able to book some flights with them again. I fly to Atlanta a lot and am unwilling to fly them without any status. Plus I go to South America regularly. Super helpful.
is it $80, or $39?
With Delta status you can only upgrade 1 additional person to Comfort+ for free? Is that correct?
Does these benefits apply only for cash booking or award booking too ? I have a EZE-LIM-MIA award booking using Iberia Avios for LATAM operated flights.
Since this is a fee based March, can this be repeated year after year? Or at all? Thanks!
“If you’re a Companion Pass cardholder, you’ll get matched LATAM’s Black elite tier.”
I’m NOT A List, but CP holder. Will they match me like you stated?
I matched my AA Platinum to LATAM Platinum successfully. Match submitted 8/23 in the early afternoon, and approved by Status Match same day about 6 hours later. Status now reflected in my LATAM account this morning 8/26. I see the 6 upgrade coupons for me and my companion also reflected in my account
Did you get the status until March 2024 or Maarch 2025 ?
I have no status on Delta/SkyTeam but have quite a few number of flights on Delta over the next 6 months. Would this status get me a free bag (& extra baggage weight) and priority status & seats as well if matched to LATAM Black Status? From what I’m reading it appears that this would be correct then it would definitely be worth doing in my scenario (I’d be matched to Black as an Alaska Airlines 75K). For $39 I’d more than cover that in baggage fees alone over the next 6 months.
Same questionabout extra bag. Does anybody know or has experience?
I had the same question… Looks like this website has an up-to-date chart of LATAM elite benefits that are offered on Delta flights:

I think LATAM status only provides Delta Skyclub entry for those on international flights. That and the fee turned me off to applying for the match. On the upside, the Skyclub entry does allow for a companion.
Yeah the article needs to correct this, you won’t have SkyClub access on a exclusively domestic DL flight.
Good catch…was surprised to see that restriction
