Living Social is launching a new dining program called Restaurants Plus that will pay up to 30% cashback when you dine at participating restaurants.

Limited Cities

Restaurants Plus is currently live in:

  • Atlanta
  • Los Angeles
  • San Diego
  • San Francisco
  • Washington, D.C

Referrals

Currently Restaurants Plus is offering $20 for free when you sign-up through someone’s referral link. The referrer also gets $20. Here is how they describe the referral:

Every time a friend signs up with your invite code, they’ll earn 100% cashback on their first meal (up to $20). Once they’ve dined, you’ll get $20 credited to your account!

Stack with Other Dining Programs?

Unlike almost every other dining program, Restaurants Plus doesn’t seem to be run by the Rewards Network. At this time it isn’t entirely clear if you can double dip by having the same card linked to a mileage program and Restaurants Plus

Signing-Up

If you are interested in signing up, here is the Frequent Miler referral link.

Attempted a double dip at lunch today. Got an immediate notification from LivingSocial. Still waiting to hear from Rewards Network.

Rachel

It took a few days, but my AA miles from Rewards Network have posted as well.

Jose

It looks like the cashback is done by Mogl. Double dips with them have definitely been possible with Rewards Network restaurants for years. Curious to see how this will work for me, since I’m already enrolled w/ Mogl. I doubt it’ll be a triple dip.

Jose

Got my answer:

“It seems like this card is already on file with our network partner, Mogl. If you would like to join Restaurants Plus, please delete your card there and then retry activating on Restaurants Plus.”

I suppose Mogl is looking to become a new white label network like RN.

Eric

The weird thing bout this new service and promo is that it doesn’t give you an verification in your living social account regarding whether the free “up to $20” for your first meal using an activated card is actually attached to you account. There’s nowhere on your profile that shows the credit. So it kind of worries me. Also, livingsocial is just using Mogl’s tech as a backend for this program.

Working on refer a friend account details in the next iteration. In the meantime, you’ll see banners at the top of the sign up experience referencing your referral and you’ll get a confirmation email and text (if you shared your #) after enrolling that look like this:

It’s official: You joined Restaurants Plus. …. Because you were referred by Greg D you’ll enjoy 100% cashback (up to $20) on your first meal at a participating location.

Eric

Good to know. However, I was invited by direct email solicitation from livingsocial, not a referral. So I assume when I clicked on the signup link in the email that mentioned the $20 promotion that everything went as planned, but there’s no confirmation when signing up this way. I just received the regular “welcome to Restaurants Plus” after activating my CC on the site.
