Marriott Bonvoy has relaunched Moments, their program that allows you to redeem your points for unique experiences. While some of them are on the pricey side, they could be a great way to treat yourself or someone else to an experience with no out-of-pocket cost.

The Deal

Quick Thoughts

I think Marriott had suspended their Moments program during the pandemic, but with events starting to go ahead again, they’ve relaunched the program with almost 40 different experiences available to bid on using your Bonvoy points.

One experience that Nick might be interested in is dinner at The French Laundry in California. There are a few different packages you can bid on which include a kitchen tour and an opportunity to meet the chef starting at 250,000 points at the time of writing this. It’s likely that cost will go up as more people bid on it, but there are two tickets per package and it’s a way to get to eat at a restaurant that’s notoriously difficult to get a table at.

If you’ve always wanted to pretend you’re a pop star, a couple of experiences provide tickets to MTV’s Video Music Awards and let you walk the red carpet before the event.

If my wife could have her pick from all these experiences, she’d likely go for the llama trek in Peru which includes a farm-to-table dining experience along with a two night stay in a Junior Suite at Tambo Del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Valle Sagrado and an 80-minute thermal circuit experience at their Kallpa Spa.

I imagine that towards the end of the auctions that the points cost gets very high, but with many of these types of experiences normally coming with a very high price tag cash-wise, redeeming points might be the only way you’d be able to afford that experience.

Don’t waste your points!! I am Lifetime Platinum Elite and am currently staying at the Springhill Suites in Island Park, ID. Tried to use 5 Suite Night upgrades and was denied. Get here and find I literally have the worst view in the hotel overlooking the dumpster. This after I call and requested a River view.

Bonvoy points ain’t worth what they used to be.

If you think about it then, these may be the best way to burn points and move on from bonevoy.

You are correct with your assumption that near the end of the auction, bids will skyrocket. I bid on one of these a few years ago and had the lead bid pretty much since the start of the auction. Then whoosh! In the last couple of hours, bids really took off. I set my bid at a price I was willing to pay and left it alone. I did not have the highest bid by auction’s end, but that’s ok. Sometimes you win by not overpaying.
