A new World of Hyatt promo has been announced today offering bonus points for every night you stay – even on award stays.
Here’s how the new promotion works:
The Deal
- Direct link to register – must register by March 31, 2018.
- Earn up to 1,000 Bonus Points per night, for a total of up to 25,000 Bonus Points, at Hyatt hotels and resorts February 15 through May 15, 2018.
Key Terms
- 1,000 Bonus Points are earned at all Hyatt brands and M life properties. The only exceptions are the Hyatt Place and Hyatt House brands which earn 500 Bonus Points per night.
- Bonus Points are awarded for all eligible stays which includes award nights.
- Edit: Hyatt have confirmed to me that neither Points + Cash stays nor free night certificates (e.g. anniversary free night certificate from the Chase Hyatt credit card) will earn the bonus points.
- Only the room occupied by the Member will count toward this promotion.
- Please allow two to three weeks after your qualifying stay for Bonus Points to be posted to your World of Hyatt account.
Quick Thoughts
A bonus of 500 or 1,000 World of Hyatt points per night is a somewhat decent bonus, especially seeing as it includes award stays. I also like that they’re awarded from your first rather than second stay (I’m looking at you Marriott and SPG.)
There are a couple of potential sweeter spots for this World of Hyatt promo:
1) Category 1 award stays – Category 1 properties only cost 5,000 points per night. Most hotels on that list are Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties and so would earn you 500 points back (i.e. 10% of your redeemed points.)
There are 34 Hyatt Regency, Hyatt and Park Hyatt properties on the category 1 list though. That means you’d earn back 1,000 bonus points per night (i.e. 20% of your redeemed points.)
2) M life paid stays – World of Hyatt have specified that M life properties are included in this promotion, most of which are located in Las Vegas.
I’m seeing rates at M life hotels from as low as $60.97 per night (which includes resort fees & taxes). With 1,000 bonus points per night thrown in – and $60 back when spending $300 – this World of Hyatt promo could be quite rewarding. If a trip to Vegas interests you, you may even be able to get round trip flights from New York to Vegas for $105.

I booked a 4 night stay, using cash (was cheaper), through the Chase Portal. Would I still be eligible for this or does the Portal count as a OTA?
Unfortunately not – the points would only be awarded for stays booked directly with Hyatt rather than via an OTA.
Works for existing reservations? Great timing if so with 4 night award stay starting tomorrow night.
Yep, it should work.
What about points + cash stays?
I’ve reached out to World of Hyatt to clarify this – I’m assuming you would, but it’d be good to know for sure.
Hyatt have advised that neither Points + Cash nor free night certificates from the credit card will earn bonus points.
Do you get the points if you booked before the promotion was active? I am staying at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun from 2/19-2/24 but we booked the trip back in October. I activated the promotion for the Hyatt account associated with the stay today.
I believe that it would. There aren’t any terms excluding stays booked before the promotion period – you just have to ensure you check out within that period which you will be doing.
