A few times a year, Kimpton has a nifty (if somewhat awkward) secret password or phrase that gets you a special treat if you mention it when checking into one of their properties. The new secret password for Winter 2023 is “chalet all day.”
The password is valid for stays starting today, December 1st, 2023 and is valid through February 29, 2024. The specific treat differs from property to property and even the same hotel might offer different surprises depending on when you visit. This can be anything from free food & beverage credits (the most common), free parking, room upgrades, free breakfast or, worst of all, little tchotchkes.
Stephen stayed at a Kimpton a while back and the password got him a $30 food and beverage credit. It looks like he put it to good use:
If you check into a Kimpton, be sure to say “chalet all day,” when checking in to get your reward. Let us know in the comments what you end up getting!
We stayed at the Kimpton in San Diego this week. “Chalet all day” got us free parking for a day ($60 value) and 4 complimentary drink tickets.
Kimpton Seafire: A can of wine, wrapped in a mesh bag.
I checked into the Kimpton Marlowe in Cambridge, MA on Christmas Day. They had a bean bag toss with three chances (they said I could choose any of the prizes if I missed). I got 2 out of 3, no big deal.
There were 6 different prize possibilities: late checkout (didn’t need this with platinum status anyway), a metal Marlowe-branded mug full of gifts* (socks, hand-warmers, a candy cane, packet of Swiss Miss, a Marlowe branded metal bottle opener), $20 F&B credit*, movie night package (2 snacks and a movie in your room), and two other things I don’t remember. I got both the starred ones due to my cornhole aptitude.
First time at a Kimpton and love it already. Later that evening at the wine social hour, we were gifted a bottle of wine when it ended. The employee also spoke Cantonese, so my mother-in-law was very excited. Then the same employee came by to let our 4 year-old choose a couple of toys out of a bucket. A few minutes later, he came back to give us a stocking-shaped ornament. All this while we relaxed in the Christmas-movie-themed lobby room. I found everyone who worked there super friendly.
Also, as a data point, they aren’t charging the daily amenities fee on an award stay.
