Amazon.com is offering the latest generation iPad at the lowest price we’ve ever seen (less than Black Friday pricing) at just $229. Stack that with the offer to save $15 off of $60 or more when using at least 1 Chase Ultimate Rewards point to pay just $214. Alternatively, Walmart is offering them at the same $229 price point and the MyPoints portal is offering 12 “points” per dollar at Walmart, which CashBackMonitor says is worth 8.4% back, though my calculation has it at about 8% cash back, which would be an even better deal. While I’m not an Apple guy myself, either way this is a great price if you’re looking for an iPad for you or someone else this holiday season.
The Deal
- Get a brand new iPad as low as $214 by stacking the current sale price ($229) with the Chase discount when using at least 1 point (our affiliate links follow)
- Alternatively, Walmart has them for the same price without a Chase Offer but with the opportunity for portal cash back (as high as 8.4% according to CashBackMonitor):
Quick Thoughts
I don’t have experience with MyPoints, but CashBackMonitor shows the portal offering 8.4% back at Walmart. However, it’s really 12 points per dollar (also reflected at CashBackMonitor). Those points can then be redeemed for gift cards, including Visa gift cards (from as low as a $10 gift card for 1500 points up to a $100 gift card for 15,000 points in various set increments). That makes points worth a return of about 8%. I don’t see any Apple exclusions, though without experience with MyPoints I’d be at least unsure whether or not it will work. If you don’t have the Chase offer and/or if you feel more confident on MyPoints, the return there is about $18.32 worth of points.
You can check whether or not you’re eligible for the Chase deal here. If you’re logged in to your Amazon account and you see a “click to activate” button, click that and it should take $15 off at checkout if you use at least 1 Chase Ultimate Rewards point (which also requires you to select a Chase card that earns Ultimate Rewards as your payment method, though you should still be able to apply gift cards to the purchase if you have any). My total came down to $214 as shown in the screen shot above. Looks like a solid deal if you’re eligible.
H/T: Doctor of Credit
This is not the iPad Pro.
(wasn’t targeted for the Chase offer but was going to use the AMEX extra 10x points with my Aspire. 13 points/dollar at .006 is an extra $18 “off.”
Just put into my cart but went to purchase & seller is out!
It was better when it was $249 and you save 20% with using Amex MR at amazon, bringing the price to about $200 before taxes. I didn’t think about that then and used the 20% for gift cards to resell.
It would be better to pay for this using a new Discover It card that will earn 10% cash back with 1st year doubling.
